‘American Idol’ Finalist Haley Reinhart Covers Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ [Video]

In the past, Postmodern Jukebox has presented unique renditions of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” and Bell Biv Devoe’s “Poison.” They are also behind that sad, singing clown, Puddles. Now, they have given Haley Reinhart the perfect outlet for her sexy, smoky voice and unique style of singing, all of which led Haley to the American Idol final rounds. Together with Postmodern Jukebox, Haley Reinhart delivers a chilling, emotional cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.”

There is so much in this cover that gives Ms. Reinhart the opportunity to really stand out and prove her value as a musical talent, but perhaps the single most astonishing fact is that Haley nailed it in a single take. Wonder what Simon Cowell would say to that?

Reinhart’s appearance on American Idol, years back, was unique for her bluesy style, which made her a favorite amongst the audiences and television viewers. Her chosen style stood her out amid that season’s long line of country and rock and roll artists. In spite of her popularity, or perhaps because of it, Haley’s stage presence was a source of frequent criticism by the American Idol judges. Even bold new versions of songs from such artists as Adele, Alanis Morissette, and Elton John couldn’t keep judges from scrutinizing Reinhart’s every nuance.

Although Haley ended up with a modest third place victory, she was still offered a post-American Idol record deal that resulted in a 2012 debut album entitled Listen Up! Clinging to the jazz and blues sounds that carried Haley through that American Idol season didn’t carry too well into record sales, and she was eventually dropped by Interscope Records after 19 recordings.

Following an appearance at Lollapalooza in Chicago, Ms. Reinhart has teamed up with Postmodern Jukebox and has recorded a number of cover songs with them. It seems that life after American Idol has been much better for Haley than it has for many of American Idol‘s other former contestants. As can be seen in the video, Ms. Reinhart has found her place and seems to feel comfortable on stage as an entertainer. Haley has experienced so much success that she has also joined Postmodern Jukebox on their recent European tour.

Additionally, Haley has just released a new EP, and Ms. Reinhart is also behind the Netflix animated series F Is For Family. Haley’s unique sound might even net her a guest spot on American Horror Story or Scream Queens. We all know how much Ryan Murphy loves his musical numbers!
