Baby Dilly Is Here! Duggar Family Welcomes New Baby Boy [Video]

The Duggar family, of the popular reality TV series 19 Kids and Counting, has just added a new member to their growing family. The second oldest daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar has just given birth to the anxiously awaited little boy, who took his time coming into the world at over a week overdue. Finally, Baby Dilly has arrived!

Derick and Jill (Duggar) Dillard welcomed the new little Duggar family bundle of joy on April 6, only minutes shy of being two weeks overdue. Baby Dilly, who now has an official name of Israel David Dillard, came into the world weighing nearly 10 pounds. In the following birth announcement, the excitement and joy shine from the eyes of Jill and Derick as they cuddle with their precious newborn.

The birth of Israel makes 23 kids in the Duggar family. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have 19 children (and two babies who did not survive birth), four grandchildren, and one on the way. Josh and Anna Duggar are due to welcome their fourth child to the family in July.

The Duggar family has been the center of much controversy regarding their Christian beliefs and staunch pro-life stance, reports Life News.

According to the Duggar Family blog, the family stopped in Israel in 2011 as part of their world tour. Jill fell in love with the area, and Derick purchased a special surprise for his Duggar sweetheart before they wed.

“More than two years later and a few months after Jill and Derick began their courtship, Derick stopped in Israel on his way home from Nepal. Knowing how much Jill had enjoyed her trip to Israel, he purchased her engagement ring there.”

Though the youngest Duggar family member’s name is a bit unusual, it is easy to see why Jill and Derick would name their firstborn after a place that has such special meaning to them personally, even outside the obvious religious connotation.

“Before finding out Baby Dilly’s gender, Jill and Derick Dillard had two possible names picked out: Israel, which means ‘God will prevail,’ and Selah, which means ‘pause and reflect.’ When they found out they were expecting a boy, they settled on Israel.”

People reports that the 19 Kids and Counting episode containing Israel’s birth will air on TLC on May 5. This is a perfect time to showcase new life, considering Mother’s Day is May 10.
