WWE News: Three Title Matches Now Officially Announced For ‘Extreme Rules’ – More Rumored

It’s already within three weeks until WWE presents Extreme Rules, and now there are three matches officially in place. So far, the three contests are all title matches, but no stipulations have been revealed as of yet. There are light rumors of other matches, but three big ones are currently on the card and they’re all WrestleMania 31 rematches.

Bad News Barrett did lost the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 31, but he wasn’t pinned or made to submit. At Extreme Rules, he is getting a rematch against Daniel Bryan, the man who won the title in the big ladder match at the PPV.

It’s going to be interesting to see a one-on-one title match between two of the original members of the Nexus who caused such chaos years ago.

After the events of Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Title against Randy Orton. Not only did Orton have to win one match on Raw, but he also had to win a triple threat match against Roman Reigns and Ryback to get the title shot.

Orton got the one-on-one victory over Rollins at WrestleMania 31, and that will likely come into play for match build-up toward Extreme Rules. As everyone now knows, Rollins went on to cash in his “Money in the Bank” briefcase later in the night to win the title.

John Cena will defend his newly won United States Title against Rusev in another rematch from WrestleMania 31. Cena was the first person in WWE to pin Rusev or make him submit since he entered the company, and he’ll need to do it again if he wants to keep his new title.

Well, with no stipulations being announced for any of these three Extreme Rules matches yet, rumors swirling are that the match between Cena and Rusev could be a “Submission Match” or “Last Man Standing.”

Some think it’s strange that Cena is taking on Rusev again since he’s started the “John Cena U.S. Open Challenge.” WrestleZone even reported that a poll has now been started to see who he should fight next week after taking on Dean Ambrose and Stardust in the previous two.

With the way things have been going lately, here are a few of the possibilities or rumors for more matches that could happen at Extreme Rules:

  • Sheamus may be thrown into the IC Title match as he’s been after Daniel Bryan lately.
  • Dean Ambrose and Luke Harper may have a Tables Match after Harper put Ambrose through one on Raw last week.
  • The Lucha Dragons may get a quick Tag-Team Title shot against The Brass Ring Club.

There are still a number of shows remaining until Extreme Rules so some of these rumors could come true as more matches are added. For now, there are three big title matches and it looks like it could be a good one.
