‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Week 6 Recap: Hollywood Mysteries, Who Sashays Away? [Spoilers]

One more week of RuPaul’s Drag Race means one less Drag Queen. The show said goodbye to Mrs. Kasha Davis last week, leaving nine competitors left. The remaining queens on RuPaul’s Drag Race had to get it together this week for yet another acting challenge. Before working the stage, though, the queens had to stay away from a few pocket monsters.

The mini-challenge had the Drag Queens facing a line-up of the Drag Race pit crew and some added friends. Shall I mention that the pit crew were only wearing their skivvies? Oh, yes, mama liked, and so did the Queens. The game, called “Monster in Your Pocket,” consisted of the Queens finding numbers hidden in the britches of each of the lined up men. Once a name was called out, the corresponding man would pull a circle from his crotch.

The numbers would add up, and when the queen was ready, she could freeze her score. The queen with the highest score won. However, if the monster is found, the Queen would lose her points and the game.

Ginger Minj won the game with 24 points. As the winner, she was able to choose her team for the main challenge of this week’s episode ofRuPaul’s Drag Race.

Ginger chose the team of Kennedy Davenport and Katya to take on the RuHollywood Stories acting challenge. The other two teams were Miss Fame, Pearl, and Jaidynn Diore Fierce, and Violet, Kandy Ho, and Max.

Each team had to reenact the story of Merle Ginsberg, former judge of Drag Race. Merle suddenly went missing from the show after Season 2 and finally fans will know why… maybe. Each team gets a different side of the story.

The team of Ginger, Kennedy, and Katya portray Merle’s side of the story, which showcases a scheming Michelle Visage (played by Ginger). Violet, Kandy Ho, and Max reenact Visage’s side, which involves a power hungry Merle. Finally, the team of Jaidynn, Miss Fame, and Pearl gives Ru’s story life. In all three there is one thing in common: RuPaul sure does love the pit crew.

The theme for the main stage was “Death Becomes Her.” Queens brings out their rigor mortis realness, displaying what their drag character would look like if she kicked the bucket. Looks ranged from the Kentucky-fried Glamazonian Kennedy to the grief-stricken lover.

With all the excitement of this week’s episode, there was a moment of vulnerability from Jaidynn, whose parents are not aware of Jaidynn’s sexuality. After tears are shed, Jaidynn has an important message for all, “Gay is okay.”

Merle rejoined the judging panel tonight, next to Michelle Visage. There was some obvious heat between the two or was that just acting?

Special guest judge on Monday’s Drag Race was the incomparable Ariana Grande, and she was a little more than excited, stating it was “the best night of my life.”

Ginger Minj’s team won the challenge with Katya being the overall winner for this week’s episode. The bottom two consisted of Kandy Ho and Jaidynn Diore Fierce. This is the third time Kandy has been in the bottom three on this season of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

After a heated lip sync performance of Grande’s “Break Free,” Kandy Ho was told to sashay away.

Do you agree with the decisions on this week’s RuPaul’s Drag Race?
