UK Police Officer sues over beard discrimination….must stop laughing


British police officer Javid Iqbal has taken legal action over claims he was forced out of his job by colleagues who made fun of his beard.

Among his claims, he states that officers pulled faces at each other if told they had to go out on patrol with him, and forced him to walk home from a job instead of picking him up.

According to The Daily Mail, Mr Iqbal says he was sacked after fellow-officers in Luton launched a ‘smear and witch-hunt campaign’ during which they lodged a string of complaints about his performance. He is taking the Bedfordshire force to an employment tribunal claiming he is the victim of racial and religious discrimination and unfair dismissal.

Now I’m fair minded…. but…well…. Usually we’d run a picture at the top of a post, but we decided that it was best left until the end for some fair perspective. Like way down the page after a pile of dots.

    Ja, little bit of humour there. Maybe. I am Greek, and have a full beard and I really don't think you understand the extent to which this sort of abuse, if you will, can affect a person. I am stared at on planes like I'm a bomber, I've been chased of the Tubes in London, I've been mocked, laughed at and more.

    Luckily I can take a joke and give it back just as hard but I don't really think you have the right to mock in the tone that you do.

    Ok not every guy with a full beard looks funny, but this guy… It looks like a fake beard to me, even though I know better. I don't think I could resist some beard jokes if I was on patrol with homey here!
