Julianne Moore Criticized By Sarah Palin’s Former Spokesperson

Posted: February 24, 2012

julianne moore

Julianne Moore has received praise and criticism for her portrayal of Sarah Palin in the HBO movie “Game Change.” The movie, which depicts the turmoil inside John McCain’s campaign in 2008, depicts Palin as an attention grabbing, but inexperienced, politician.

Palin’s  former spokeswoman Meg Stapleton called Moore’s depiction of Palin sick. Stapleton says that the movie shows Palin as a weak character.

The movie won’t hit HBO until March 12th, but a trailer does show Palin nearing a nervous breakdown. Moore said that she knew the role would be controversial but she doesn’t believe that it’s an unfair portrayal of Sarah Palin. Moore said:

“We have her displaying moments of sheer brilliance –- I mean, she was unbelievably charismatic. Suddenly here was this working class mother who popped out and seemed to be able to command the world, but of course upon further inspection, she was clearly not prepared. She didn’t necessarily have the experience necessary to lead our country, and that’s what we were attempting to characterize.”

But Stapleton thinks that Julianne Moore’s performance in “Game Change” mocks the former governor of Alaska. Stapleton said:

“They mock Governor Palin… as weak and unable to cope and press forward. And the movie and the trailer… say that. And yet, look with your own eyes at what she and her family have endured and inspired over the last few years. Any lesser man would have hanged himself by now. So who’s weak?”

It’s hard to judge Moore’s portrayal at the moment, you know, since the movie isn’t out yet. But here’s a look at the “Game Change” trailer. Do you think Sarah Palin looks weak in “Game Change?”

  1. Brave or not Palin barely speaks in complete sentences. If she is portrayed as unprepared to lead the country, that is accurate.

"She didn’t necessarily have the experience necessary to lead our country…" REALLY Ms. Moore? And do you believe that the liberal, "community organizer" TV-pitch-man- reject, joke we have in the White House now have the experience?

Ms Moore has stated that she "hates" Sarah Palin. So, of course she would think that her portrayal is a fair representation of someone who is "weak" and ill prepared to lead our country. Imagine hating someone that you do not know. Now that does not sound like a fair minded, help-everyone, liberal (puke!)! Also, according to some of the information I've been reading, quite a bit of what is in this movie is made up! Imagine that!

And by the way Daniel Bottoms…….I've heard Mrs. Palin speak, and she does complete sentences. In fact, she speaks in plain enough language that everyone can understand her. As far as being unprepared to lead a country, I believe a person who has been the leader of a city and then a state actually has quite a bit more experience in leadership than a one term senator. Fifteen trillion dollars of debt later is proof positive!

Palin or Mickey Mouse could run the country better than what we have had the last 4 years. And Palin had more experience than Obama. And he proved that when he got us Trillions of dollars in dedt. He done it. It is what it is…

If she just dropped some of her left wing stuff…she would be a good candidate. She like half libertarian. If she moved all the way right and became libertarian. She would make a good leader.

  6. So, kind of wonder what state you are Gov. of? Mr. Bottoms

How can ANYONE be surprised by a biased portrayal of a Republican Conservative by a left wing Hollyweird "actress"? Did you really expect a fair portrayal? If you answer yes, I have GREAT land offer for you!

  8. Ms. Moore…unfortunately your looks are too intellectual and your expressions are not nearly vacuous enough to portray Caribou Barbie accurately.

  9. What is the surprise here? Palin is "WEAK" — especially in like WEAKMINDED! The woman is indeed dumb, undereducated, underprepared — yet, hugely ambitious, expoitative, avariceous and manipulative. Hence we got the "perfect politican." Moore nor the screenwriters could put any more lipstick on a pig than that!

  10. Are you kidding me, Ms Moore is a actress Being Directed by someone.
Her likes or dislike mean nothing she is reading what someone wrote in a script.

  11. Easy Roger, you are going to upset a lot of right wingers with a comment like that.

  12. Kevin V Sinclair Are you offering to finance me in a run for governor or president. The political system that makes pulling a Sarah Palin out of your hat is the problem this movie is about. It obviously required little brilliance, knowledge of history or the political system for Sarah Palin to expose and stop some corrupt business and political practices in Alaska. She gets high points for doing the right thing in that regard. Since then she showed her priorities to the people who elected her in Alaska. She QUIT halfway through her term. Then she spent all the funds set aside in her "potential election campaign touring the country promoting herself and her books.I would be delighted to run against that record and debate Sarah Palin. Send me the check but don't expect any special favors from me when I am in office.

  13. Everything about this woman is already fictitiously scripted. Every word that comes from her mouth is bought and paid for. I don’t know if HBO can Sell Sarah better than she sells herself. She’s cut-throat when it comes to her money and you can see just how scandalous she’ll get for the cash with The Ecstasy of Sarah Palin at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/06/ecstasy-of-sarah-palin_15.html Watch the cash reign down as she teases the public and bats her eyelashes for the green.

I agree she may not have been ready to be President. But the unfair attacks on her and her family, by SNL and every liberal on TV is amazingly petty and vicous. The liberals rule the air waves and any conservative has his character assassinated by so called "spoofs". Obama makes as many gaffes as Bush ever did but do you see Letterman dedicating a nightly segment called, "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches"? Obama gets a pass. That is dangerous for a democracy when there is no free press.

  15. Julianne Moore is a super liberal, Hollywood Democrat! Of course she isn't going to offer a good image of Sarah Palin in any light; that was her mission. One has to consider the source, when dealing with Miss Moore vs. comservatives and/or Republicans. In such cases, Ms. Moore is incapable of offering an unbiased performance. Oh yeah, I am not a Sarah Palin fan!

  18. You need to get out more often old man, your G W put us in this hole, the damage was done before Obama took office.

  19. Just don't count on her not quitting if the job you appoint her too is not serving her best immediate interest. That is her record as governor. What …she looks good in a swimsuit?……Oh never mind then.

  20. Hustler…my source for the real news – right behind the National Enquirer!

  21. "Palin’s former spokeswoman Meg Stapleton called Moore’s depiction of Palin sick".

I have to wonder what makes Meg Stapleton think anyone in Alaska (yes I'm from Anchorage), let alone the rest of the planet, was waiting on her take on the film?

Tina Fey would have been better in this role, but they probably couldn't pay her enough to do it. Plus, it would take the fun out of her making fun of Palin. I don't care to see it since I already know Palin is a quitter, inept and just down right ignorant.

What has her family endured in the last few years? Her daughter got knocked up. That happens in our country everyday. Big deal. She was weak and everyone saw it, that's why their campaign bid failed.

  30. First….Ms. Moore is an ACTRESS! An actress who is following a script in accordance with a writer and a director. This is a movie. Criticizing the actress based on the content of the movie is misguided. This is regardless of what one thinks of Ms. Palen.

  31. Make that "Palin".

Hilarious how some have short memory spans. I have plenty of issues with our current President, but most of this debt was caused by those before him. And the people running against him want to continue the same policies that have gave us this enormous debt to begin with. And though with the constant filibustering the President wouldn't have a shot at changing the status quo, but he also hasn't at least even put up a fight to change it either.

Exactly. It is a book based on the former campaign manager of McCain/ Palin ticket. People are acting as if she's the one that pulled this out of her arse.

  34. No matter what kind of job Moore did, she'd get slammed; too kind, and she'd get it from the left, too hard and she'd get it from the right. Hopefully she's enough of a professional actress to look at Palin and try to be faithful to the person.
    And they're both hot :D .

  37. Sorry I must be missing it, what has Palin's family endured over the last few years? Oh that's right, they endured the millions she has made by leveraging her shooting star performance, they endured celebrity status, they endured reality show contracts and more money…I get it now, Meg Stapleton is right, they have endured a lot. Maybe Meg is a shill for HBO, lots of controversy…

  39. First off, it's not "our country" Julianne, you're from England. Second, she wasn't qualified to be VP but a half term senator who spent most of his life as a "community organizer" was qualified to be president? Me thinks I see a double standard here.

Before him? Really? Millions more out of work than when he took office, how did GW cause that? trillions spent on kickbacks to union buddies, how did GW cause that? Getting us into wars in Africa and Libya, How did GW cause that? Deciding to break multiple promises, GW's fault? More American troops died in other wars in the time he has been in office – never gets reported – most likely because of GW. Gas prices higher when oil prices are not as high, I am sure that is because of GW. I can go on and on and on. Obama is a clown, a face, an empty suit. He know only what to say to get elected, but not what to do. Other than spend more money on vacation than any president in history. Lying, cheating, stealing – he makes the perfect democrat

I am a director, and believe me, actors, especially good ones, ALWAYS put in their own influence. ALWAYS.

  42. The sequel will be a sort of reality tv show called "The GOP Wacky Liars for President White Collar Comedy Tour" – the entire Republican party has made itself a joke and 'writes' scripts on a daily basis that the best writers in Hollywood could never make up on their own. As for Sarah, she is not a very intelligent person and to have accepted the ridiculous offer to become a candidate for VP of the USA was, by far, the craziest thing she will ever do in her life. Stapleton would be ashamed to admit she 'served' Palin if she had any more sense than Palin but obviously she does not. Out political system suffered a tremendous negative blow when the clown John McCain gave the go ahead to offer that silly woman the nation's second highest ranking job. While POTUS does not make decisions, he/she does have tremendous influence on our country as well as every other country on the planet so it would be nice NOT to have a semi-insane fool occupying the office.

  43. john mccain and sarah palin introduced the nation to the reality show version of the republican party which we are watching in full blown hilarity now during the current presidential race. she should be flattered that anybody cares enough to make a real tv show about her now that she's such a has-been. julianne moore on the other hand is awesome.

    xxx
Wait… is she talking about our current "leader" or SP? I'm sorry but at least S.P held office – our "illustrious" leader was a community organizer and served in the Senate for three years; two of which he was out campaigning for President. I think we're all being given a prime example of someone who had no experience "to lead our country." This is nothing but another hack job done by people attempting to paint themselves as fair in their portrayal of people they do not like and do not respect. Who do they think they're kidding?

  45. I cannot wait till this country is able to embrace women as leaders. This country was built with woman and the men that are in office are mostly put there by the woman they are with.

  46. Actually, yes… did you see "The Iron Lady?"

  47. The problem is that Moore is not as pretty and or is an all around woman that Palin is; many women are jealous of other women and Palin is a terrific target because she does seem to be a man's woman. I have heard many men that are democrats and do not agree with her politics remark on her ravenous allure and even admit that they respect her tremendously because she was taking the heat like or better than a man stating that they themselves could not hold up to the attacks as well as she had. They should had found an actress maybe like Catherin Zeta Jones that in real life could match up to Palins physical beauty; and in comparison compared Palin to the many men that had fallen before her. In retrospect when we speak of not having experience that applies to the present President as well. Obama is the one who did not have experience and pales in comparison to Palin. This is politics – who will do the bidding of who. Obama's only experience is spending other people's money; not earning it himself. This gives him the right in his mind to tell the people of America to stay at home and do not spend your money while Mrs. Obama is on her seventeenth vacation since they took office.

  48. Sarah Palin wishes she were as astute as Julianne Moore. JUST go away Palin stay in Alaska do us all a favor you dumb twat.

Joe Cipale NO!! The Navy Seals got bin Laden!! It just happened to be on his watch. He didn't go out there and hunt Bin Laden down and kill him….give credit where credit is due!

  58. Yes, Ms Moore does NOT look like that beautiful woman…..Sarah Palin…..at all! No media is going to protray this gorgeous woman right……they all hate Ms Palin…why? because she is smarter than any LIBERAL on earth and they cannot stand it! Palin for President!

  59. Alaska is a big state. She was a great governor and the speech is a little different up there as it is all over the USA. When she speaks she speaks of love for the country. She speaks as a leader and had secured Alaska ans the business and kept up with the preservation and Alaska is more than other states in regards to the workings and functionality. She was able to move that state up under her service. Alaska is not just an ice berg. She was also all business – something that many people are not use to grabbing yet. She was right up there with Santorum.

  60. oh really pretty boy? I commented on her looks only because Julianne Moore commented she hated Palin. A lot of women are jealous. Has nothing to do with my judgement – that is an observation. In fact if you must discuss merit – Palin had the attention of the financiers of the world because her treasury was ample and not empty due to her negotiations and manner of governing. In fact, at one time Alaskans were sought out as customers because of her stable and improving economy for the people way before she was announced running as Vice President. I suppose you are going to buck that but that is probably because you are jealous as well. She is one of the few people that successfully negotiated with a major oil company like EXXON to where she secured the mineral right royalties for the people unlike here in America where John Corona Republican Senator in Dallas owns Principle Management instigated that the mineral rights of condo owners or home owners in gated communities went to the POA and HOA deflecting the funds from the people to the management companies. I as a homeowner and condo owner appreciate what Palin accomplished for her people. Even though both are Republicans their actions speak louder than words. I am neither Republican or Democrat – look at the deeds and not the party or religion or any other group that hides their misdeeds behind the label. Oh and the Texas remark -

  61. Texas is bigger and better – did you know that there are 167,672,913.14 acres of land in Texas approximately 311 800 000 people in the US. Is it fair to say if two people in the US shared one acre of land in Texas the rest of the country would be vacant. And what is more is that Texas could support them all – why do think so many people run to Texas for jobs? Yankee – why do think you are called a Yankee?
