Caterina Scorsone Is Pregnant, Actress Expecting First Child

Private Practice actress Caterina Scorsone and husband Rob Giles are expecting their first child.

Scorsone spoke with PEOPLE on Thursday and revealed that the couple are “over the moon” with exciting for the arrival of their little bundle of joy who will arrive this Summer.

Caterina says of her pregnancy:

“I’m starting to show now. Everybody on set has been pretty sweet and is offering me fruit.”

Following in the footsteps of her real life pregnancy viewers of the show will find out this week that Dr. Amelia Shepard is pregnant.

It turns out that after hearing about the pregnancy Private Practice creator Shonda Rhimes was inspired to change things up. Scorsone jokes that her pregnancy can be used for “dramatic purposes” on the show.

Female actresses often carry their real life pregnancies over to their shows characters, one of the most recent examples is Bones star Emily Deschanel who’s character Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan became pregnant during the most recent season of Fox’s hit TV series. Deschanel eventually welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world.

While it’s not confirmed we also reported on a story last week in which actress Drew Barrymore was caught carrying a sonogram out of her doctors office, it looks like 2012 could be a big year for celebrity pregnancy.
