Oil Heir Andrew Getty Found Dead In Hollywood Hills Mansion: Former Girlfriend ‘A Person Of Interest’

Andrew Getty, the grandson of of oil titan, J. Paul Getty, has reportedly been found dead in his multi-million dollar Hollywood Hills mansion, his grieving family asking for privacy as police investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding the Getty oil heir’s death.

The Los Angeles Times reports that while the L.A. coroner hasn’t yet officially identified the dead man as Andrew Getty, his parents, Ann and Gordon Getty, have confirmed their son Andrew’s death, at the same time requesting privacy for the Getty family in this “extremely difficult time.”

The body believed to be that of Andrew Getty was discovered Tuesday afternoon in the Montcalm Avenue home high in the Hollywood Hills, but no definitive cause of Andrew Getty’s death has been released. Los Angeles coroners and investigators are still waiting for a search warrant to allow them to begin their investigation inside the Getty house.

Police were called to the Andrew Getty residence on Montcalm Avenue around 2:15, Tuesday afternoon, the home reportedly located at the end of the secluded and tree-lined street.

Because the death is believed to be that of Andrew Getty and involves the Getty name, the LAPD has deemed the situation “high-profile” and brought in a team of “elite robbery-homicide detectives.”

At least one person has been detained by police, a woman that is believed to be Andrew Getty’s former girlfriend, the same woman that made the 911 call regarding Andrew Getty’s likely death, reports KCAL 9 News.

The LAPD calls Andrew Getty’s former girlfriend a “person of interest” and has detained her because Getty’s cause of death currently remains “undetermined.”

At the same time, recent episodes involving police at the Andrew Getty home, such as noise complaints and reports of trespassing, have also raised red flags.

According to TMZ, the relationship between Andrew Getty and the former girlfriend was a rocky one. Getty took out a restraining order against the woman two weeks ago, and the LAPD has a memorable trail to the Andrew Getty residence with over 30 past visits, generally including a volatile mixture of domestic violence and prescription drugs.

At the same time, LAPD Captain William P. Hayes reports that Andrew Getty’s former girlfriend is being perfectly cooperative, while other LAPD sources point out that it is still, “very, very early in the investigation,” with nothing immediately pointing to the death of Andrew Getty being the result of a “criminal act.”

UPDATE: TMZ reports that Andrew Getty suffered a serious “injury to the rectal area and paramedics found significant bleeding.”

Whether or not these injuries contributed to Andrew Getty’s death have not been confirmed.
