Leaked iPhone 6c Images Could Be Fake

Could there be another version of the iPhone 6 on the way? On Monday, the Internet went abuzz after pictures of the alleged 4-inch iPhone 6c leaked. Antony Leather of Forbes describes the alleged iPhone 6c.

“Not everyone is a fan of larger smartphones but it seems there’s even more evidence that Apple is indeed planning a smaller iPhone 6 – dubbed the 6c. Leaked photos appear to show an iPhone 5c-like chassis with a plastic housing and curved edges, but also one that’s distinctly smaller than the iPhone 6 – Apple’s smallest model in the latest range and the smaller sibling of the 6 Plus.”

MacRumors also believes the pictures hint to the eventual release of the iPhone 6c.

“Apple did not refresh the iPhone 5c when it launched the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last year, leading to speculation that the plastic smartphone might be discontinued from the smartphone lineup. Last week, however, it was reported that Apple is planning to release three new iPhones later this year, including the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and 4-inch iPhone 6c.”

While plenty of Apple and iPhone fans are excited, the pictures may be fake or at least are not an indication of anything to come. The Inquisitr talked to Los Angeles based industry analyst Paul Mueller who believes that an iPhone 6c is not in the works.

“If Apple was going to release the iPhone 6c, it would have happened last year. There is no possible way that, at least right now, a smaller version of the iPhone 6 would survive in the market. There is a very small group of consumers who prefer smaller smartphones, but not enough to make an impact.”

Even Techno Buffalo isn’t completely convinced by the images of the alleged iPhone 6c.

“Of course, it’s possible this could be a fake mockup. It wouldn’t be too difficult to take an iPhone 5c shell and drill some extra holes. Hopefully that’s not the case, though we won’t know for sure unless Apple reveals the new device later this year,” the website states.

However, it seems more certain that there will be two new iPhone units available in September — the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Both smartphones are said to have faster processors, more memory, and even better screens than both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
