Obsessed Pennsylvania Teacher Sends 11-Year-Old Student Thousands Of Texts, Spoke Of Running Away Together

According to authorities, a Pennsylvania teacher, obsessed with one of her 11-year-old girl students, was arraigned on Wednesday on charges of child luring, corruption of minors, and attempting to interfere with custody of the child.

Pix11 reports that 28-year-old Geraldine Alcorn, a teacher at Beechwood Elementary School in Pittsburgh, encrypted her phone number on the student’s math homework by telling her to dial the numbers she had circled. Alcorn then proceeded to exchange over 1,000 text messages with the student, and even spoke about them running away together.

According to the girl’s mother, Alcorn was obsessed with her daughter, and she and her daughter exchanged 2,400 text messages within a two-week span. Alcorn also visited their home while she was away at work. Neighbors told police that they had seen Alcorn on the girl’s porch, but assumed she was a family friend or relative.

“On Feb. 13, 2015, school staff were made aware of concerns that a teacher had developed an improper attachment with a Pittsburgh Beechwood student,” Merecedes Howze, Pittsburgh Public Schools spokeswoman, said on Wednesday. “In keeping with the school district’s procedures, the teacher was immediately placed on suspension while those claims were investigated.”

Alcorn resigned on March 2, after being suspended, but she continued to leave the girl messages and gifts even after her resignation. On March 13, Geraldine returned to the school to collect her personal belongings. On the following Monday, the student found more gifts and encryptions in her locker telling the girl to contact her.

Despite being told not to contact the girl, Alcorn continued to pursue the relationship, and the girl’s mother found 21 stickers and letters in her binder. There were also two letters from the girl to Alcorn with the headings “Things Ms. Alcorn and I can do,” ”what we can do,” and “when we can do it,” according to a criminal complaint.

According to WPXI, police said that the girl told them that she and Alcorn kept their relationship a secret. After being coerced, Geraldine even managed to lure the girl to her home. Authorities do not think that the Alcorn was attracted to the girl sexually, and they are not sure what spurred the obsession.

Alcorn did not have an attorney present at her arraignment, and none was listed for her on the online records. Geraldine was jailed after she was not able to make the $100,000 bond. She later posted her bond, but was warned that it would be revoked if she had any contact with the girl.
