Mom Of 7 Stabbed To Death: Arizona Man Kills Wife After Argument Over Son’s Assault

A man who stabbed his wife to death Thursday in an Arizona town apologized to emergency operators shortly thereafter. John Leo Davis Jr. of Goodyear faces first-degree murder charges for killing his wife, a mom of seven. He allegedly stabbed Michele Davis to death as seven children looked on when she confronted him for chastising one of her sons, this according to a People report on the fatal stabbing.

Police were routed to a residence near Cotton Lane and Lower Buckeye Road in the Southwest Valley after a man, supposedly Davis, made a frantic call stating that he “lost his mind” and killed his wife. Reportedly, he was very tearful and remorseful during the 911 call. Police arrived a short time later and discovered his wife unresponsive in a pool of blood. She suffered multiple stab wounds to her back, according to documents. The woman was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Before the mom of seven was stabbed to death, one of her sons told her he was assaulted by his father. Apparently, the man became enraged after learning the boy was playing a video game. When Michele learned about the encounter, she confronted the suspect and an argument ensued. Then, according to one of the kids who witnessed the quarrel, their father armed himself with a kitchen knife and gave chase to his wife. Later, she was found near the front door suffering from several knife wounds.

According to records, the man has a history of assaults and domestic violence dating back over two decades. Seven years ago, the Arizona man was arrested for allegations of child abuse and assault against Michele. And again in 2006 and in the ’90s, the woman’s killer was arrested for assault against his wife, but it’s not clear if it was his current spouse.

All of the seven children left orphaned by the woman’s death and the father’s arrest have been taken out of the home by social workers. It’s unclear if they will remain in foster care with the state or will be put in the custody of relatives. Meanwhile, the woman’s suspected killer is behind bars on a $2 million bond.

A GoFundMe campaign (The Davis Family Fund) was set up to assist in the burial of the mom of seven who was stabbed to death by her husband. As of this writing, 61 donors have pledged $4,195 of the $5,000 goal.
