Rihanna Confirms Sam Smith Collab, Drops ‘BBHMM’ As Buzz Single

Rihanna has confirmed that she’s working on new music with Sam Smith. The two artists met at the 2015 Grammy Awards. The Barbadian pop star was even seen kissing the cheek of Sam, as reported by the Mirror. Not only have Rihanna and Sam have become friends, but they also become music collaborators.

The Sun reported that Rihanna wants to make music with Smith, 22. The 24-year-old reportedly had nice things to say about the “Stay With Me” singer.

“He is so talented, it would be amazing to work with him. No matter how busy we are, when two artists want to work together, they make it happen.”

“He has such a beautiful voice, is a beautiful songwriter but more important than that he is an absolutely beautiful person and that comes across in his songs.”

Rihanna and Sam even partied together after the Grammy Awards. He celebrated at his mansion in Bel Air. The singer called it the “best night of his life,” since he got to take home four Grammy trophies.

Smith partied with the likes of Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, and Rihanna where guests reportedly drank Hangar1 vodka and Perrier-Jouet champagne until 5 a.m.

Their collaboration is expected to be featured on Rihanna’s highly anticipated new album, R8, according to MTV UK. The singer just released a buzz single off of the album. “B**ch Better Have My Money” was released on iTunes on Thursday, and it’s been doing well. It’s already risen to the top of the iTunes charts in 20 different countries, including U.S., Brazil, and France, according to another report by the Metro. It’s also in the Top 10 in Canada, Germany, and Spain.

This is just a buzz single for urban radio. Rihanna’s next single for Top 40 radio is rumored to be called “American Oxygen.” It will follow the lead single “FourFive Seconds,” which features Kanye West and Paul McCartney.

Rihanna said that she wants to make more timeless music rather than Top 40 dance hits.

“I’ve made a lot of songs that are just really big songs…they just blow up. Not that they weren’t real music, but I just wanted to focus on things that felt real, that felt soulful, that felt forever.”

“I wanted songs that I could perform in 15 years. I wanted an album that I could perform in 15 years, not any songs that were burnt out.”

“BBHMM” sounds more like a club banger than a classic song. Her album is expected to be more experimental as she tries out new sounds. What are your thoughts on a Rihanna and Sam Smith collab?
