Justin Bieber On Zayn Malik Leaving One Direction: ‘No! That Was My Favorite’ [Video]

Justin Bieber probably hasn’t made any home videos of himself crying over Zayn Malik’s departure from One Direction like the band’s fans. But in a freshly-dropped clip, the Biebs certainly registers some emotion over the news.

In a TMZ-obtained video, a photog is seen firing questions at Bieber while he took selfies with fans after leaving Bar 20 at the Grafton Hotel in West Hollywood on Thursday.

One question, asked, “Justin, how do you feel about Zayn leaving One Direction?”

To which, Bieber didn’t give an answer. Most likely because he had a group of excitable, female fans to attend to.

The next query asked who Bieber thought should replace Zayn’s spot in the successful boy band.

“Ah, I don’t know man,” Bieber said. He added, “That sucks though. How many members now, four?”

As the singer stood talking with the fans on the sidewalk, he jokingly told the girls, “Zayn’s gone? Nooooooo! Not Zayn! That was my favorite Directioner.”

The fans who met Bieber later took to Twitter to share pics of their encounter.

Bieber’s reaction to Malik’s departure from the band is a microcosm of the hysterical pop culture response to Zayn’s Wednesday reveal that he was leaving One Direction after five years.

Amid Directioners’ expressions of shock and sadness, “#AlwaysInOurHeartsZaynMalik” is still trending on Twitter and Harry Styles has since cried onstage. Meanwhile, he, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson have all made statements essentially saying they support Zayn’s decision but the band will carry on.

Zayn has since given an interview to the UK’s the Sun (via People), just six hours after his official exit statement, in which he said he wanted to be a “normal 22-year-old” and live his life “out of the spotlight.”

To the Sun, Zayn said, “It is crazy and wild and a bit mad.”

“But at the same time I’ve never felt more in control in my life. And I feel like I’m doing what’s right — right by myself and right by the boys, so I feel good… My band has been really supportive. They’ve been cool about it.

“And they understand that, you know, it’s not real to me anymore.”

Mail Online reports Malik was seen visiting a recording studio in London on Thursday “with reports that he’s already working on his first solo release with [producer] Naughty Boy.”

As for Justin Bieber; after sharing his views on One Direction’s loss, the lensman asked if he will be walking out pal Floyd Mayweather to the ring at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena for his May 2 showdown with Manny Pacquiao.

“Yes Sir,” Bieber replied. Was there ever any doubt?
