Zayn Malik Quits One Direction: Is Fiancée Perrie Edwards The New ‘Yoko Ono’?
Zayn Malik’s sudden departure from One Direction has been no doubt causing meltdowns on the Internet. Now fans are blaming his fiancée, Perrie Edwards, for making him leave the internationally successful boy band!
Thousands of One Direction fans took to Twitter to share their sadness and frustrations over the 22-year-old singer’s decision to quit. Some of them even blamed Edwards, who is being compared to the late John Lennon’s wife Yoko Ono, according to Just Jared. The singer and artist was accused for breaking up the Beatles in 1970.
Fans are believing the rumors that Perrie made Zayn leave One Direction. Zayn was recently hit with rumors that he cheated on Perrie with a mystery blonde in the Philippines during the On The Road tour. The rumors, along with fan accusations and the stress from fame, caused Zayn to suddenly leave One Direction.
Aaliyah tweeted: “Perrie’s the modern day Yoko Ono…I can’t believe this.”
Fan Airan Patricia Bueno had some heavy thoughts about Malik’s sudden split from the boy band. She wondered if his fiancée made him choose their relationship over his career.
“What just happened?! Did Perrie made him chose her over his career? Unfair, man. She should also quit if that’s the case. Just an opinion [sic].”
Another fan named Feizal tweeted some truth, “Basically Perrie Edwards is the most hated girl in the universe today.”
A Zayn Malik fan wrote, “Thank you Perrie Edwards for destroying One Direction.”
As you can see, Malik fans are fuming over his announcement. It hasn’t stopped them from creating the hastags #ByeZayn and #AlwaysinOurHeartsZaynMalik. The Inquisitr also previously reported that some fans took it to extremes by threatening to cut themselves over the news about Malik’s departure from One Direction.
The rumors about Perrie making Zayn leave the group may not be true though. J-14 reported that Zayn has had trouble dealing with life in the spotlight for some time now. He has been flirting (excuse the pun) with the idea of leaving One Direction for some time now. Zayn wouldn’t have quit so suddenly if he was sick of the fame, the teen magazine noted.
Perrie Edwards also spends her life in the public eye. She’s just one of the singers in the popular girl group, Little Mix. Apparently, Perrie doesn’t mind being in the public eye. It doesn’t sound like she’ll be leaving the girl group anytime for their relationship. If you look at Malik’s past interviews, you can tell that he’s a private and quiet man.
