Derek Hough, Mark Ballas House-Flipping Show Ready To Debut: ‘DWTS’ Pros Tackle New Project

Dancing With the Stars fans have been hearing tidbits about a new reality TV show involving Derek Hough and Mark Ballas, and it’s finally officially ready to premiere. Mark & Derek’s Excellent Flip will premiere on HGTV in April, and DWTS fans can’t wait. What’s the scoop on this one?

Enhanced Online News reports that Mark and Derek’s show will consist of four episodes, following the Dancing With the Stars pros, as they work on flipping a house together. Ballas and Hough bought the house together in early 2014 with the plans to renovate it, and it was soon revealed that they were hoping to put together a reality show based on the renovation.

TMZ revealed last October that the renovations were completed and the DWTS pros had found a buyer. Derek and Mark reportedly bought the house for $1.275 million, put about $200,000 into fixing it up and listed it for $1.895 million.

The site shares some before and after photos, and notes that Hough and Ballas replaced the roof, windows and doors, and did serious upgrades to the kitchen and other areas of the house. The floor plan was reportedly opened up significantly, and the master bedroom got big upgrades as well.

According to Rumor Fix, the guys ended up selling the home for about $1.85 million, netting a nice return for their investment. The home has 3,235 square feet of space, and features four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms.

Mark and Derek shared that this was their “very first house flip together” and they were working on both a tight timeline of four weeks, and tight budget to make the magic happen. They indicate that they were determined to do it right, and they didn’t always agree on what changes to make. DWTS fans know these two have been friends since childhood, and it sounds like this will be a fun show for long-time fans to watch.

The four-episode run of Mark & Derek’s Excellent Flip will show the guys knocking down walls, tackling the exterior and landscape, updating the bedrooms, and prepping the house for getting sold. The show will premiere on HGTV on Tuesday, April 28.

Both Mark Ballas and Derek Hough are keeping quite busy these days, with the house-flipping show just being one of many projects on their slate. Derek is partnered with Nastia Liukin on Season 20 of DWTS, which is airing right now. He’s also doing a show in New York and preparing for another tour with sister Julianne this summer.

Mark is partnered with Willow Shields of the Hunger Games movies this season on Dancing With the Stars. Fans know that Ballas is working hard on his music career these days as well. Could Derek Hough and Mark Ballas do another run of Mark & Derek’s Excellent Flip after this debut season airs on HGTV? DWTS fans would surely love to see it happen, and many would imagine it’ll depend on how the ratings are during that four-episode run later this spring.
