Adam Lambert Wishes That ‘Gay Becomes Less Of A Label’ And Dishes On Upcoming Single And Album [Video]

Adam Lambert has been very open about his sexuality as a gay man after his second-place finish during Season 8 on American Idol in 2009. He has consistently supported LGBT causes. When recently interviewed, he expressed the purity of being who one really is, believing that labels separate people, when, instead, he wants to bring people together, according to Billboard.

“I think there’s a simple power in being unapologetic and open about who and what you are and not letting it prevent you from getting what you want. In that way, I think I’ve made a statement. My wish is for gay to become less of a label, and more of just one of many great colors in the collective box of humanity. I’m not a separatist. I’m all inclusive.”

Adam had great success with his first album in 2009, For Your Entertainment, which included songs written or co-written by superstars like Lady Gaga, Pink, and Kara DioGuardi, and with his second album in 2012, Trespassing, on which he collaborated with the likes of Pharrell Williams and Bruno Mars.

Now, Glamberts are awaiting yet another new sound from Adam Lambert. He’s getting ready for the release of his upcoming album, The Original High. Adam is first releasing a single next month from that album called “Ghost Town.”

Adam Lambert is known for having a great range and an innovative style, so his fans never know what to expect. So Adam whetted our appetite while awaiting the release of the single and album by saying the following, according to Yahoo News.

“The first single feels like the perfect introduction to The Original High. It establishes itself in a very earthy, vulnerable way and transforms into a hypnotic dream full of surreal imagery and set to a minimal yet massive deep house beat. The hook will worm its way into your ears after the first listen. Get ready!”

This new album will be his first released on the Warner Bros Records label, and he enlisted the help of production powerhouses Max Martin and Shellback to executive produce the release. Lambert made it clear that he doesn’t want to just re-tread his other songs; instead, he’s always looking for a new, contemporary sound. According to Billboard, Adam said the following regarding his new creation.

“Sonically it feels more contemporary than my previous material. It’s definitely pop but not bubblegum. We have avoided camp and theatrics and have favored a darker, more grounded vibe, and at the same time, it will make you dance! Lyrically, it’s very very personal, the album has an overall bittersweet feel to it. Vocally, I think it’s my most tasteful, sophisticated work to date. With Max’s guidance, I approached a lot of it with more restraint than in the past. Instead of being overly specific, most of the songs are more esoteric and so they’re open to interpretation. I’m curious to hear about the individual meaning that people find in the songs dependent on their own situation.”

According to the Inquisitr, the single, “Ghost Town,” is set to be released April 21, and Adam stated that there’s “definitely pop and there’s some house on there, there’s some R&B flavors here and there.” Click on this link to hear a 15-second snippet teaser of the song. It’s certain to be a hit in dance clubs so, Glamberts, watch out. Adam Lambert doesn’t disappoint, being known to be a perfectionist.
