Daniel Case: Man With 3 DWI Convictions Allegedly Drives Drunk Again, Killing His 6-Year-Old Niece

Daniel Case was convicted of DUI three times before, but police in Colorado say the 34-year-old got behind the wheel again while he was drunk, this time crashing into his brother’s house and killing his 6-year-old niece.

The accident happened Friday night, following an argument Daniel had with his brother. Police said Charles, who was allegedly drunk at the time, drove off after the fight, but soon returned.

A report from KOAA detailed the incident.

“After the argument, Charles Case and his daughter drove to their house on Starlite Drive. When the father and daughter were preparing to walk through their front door, Daniel Case went through the intersection of Lancaster Drive and Starlite Drive without stopping. Daniel Case drove through the front door, hitting the child. Investigators are piecing together whether that argument had anything to do with the crash.”

AJ Case, Daniel’s niece, was rushed to Parkview Medical Center, but died at the hospital. Police arrested her uncle, saying that alcohol played a role in the crash.

Grief-stricken family members have started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the young girl’s funeral. In just two days, it has already raised $6,700, pushing past the goal of $6,000.

The family had a note on the page.

“Our precious angel was taken to be with the Lord yesterday evening due to a tragic accident. The family is asking friends and loved ones to help with funeral expenses. If you can find it in your heart to help this grief stricken family it would certainly help lighten their burden during this difficult time. Any amount would be deeply appreciated.”

The tragic death of AJ Case was not the only drunk-driving tragedy making the news. This weekend, a New Jersey police officer was reportedly driving drunk after leaving a strip club with a group of friends, and got onto the West Shore Expressway in Staten Island going the wrong direction.

The car crashed into a truck, leaving two people dead.

Hours before the crash, the driver had posted on Instagram a picture of three shot glasses filled with what he said was “Jack Daniels Fire on the house.” Police said it was “too premature” to speculate on what caused the accident, but have reportedly requested a blood test for the driver’s blood alcohol content.

In Colorado, police have arrested Daniel Case, and booked him on charges of vehicular homicide and DUI.
