Madeleine Stowe Talks Playing Victoria Grayson on ‘Revenge’
ABC’s soapy drama Revenge has been picking up steam as the plot heats up, and the recent boosts in ratings can no doubt be attributed at least partly to Madeleine Stowe’s portrayal of the icy billionaire Victoria Grayson.
Stowe’s character is one that fans of the show absolutely love to hate–so much so that Stowe says that Victoria Grayson is, on some level, akin to Lady Macbeth.
“I’m having a really good time with it,” Stowe said of playing the role of Victoria Grayson. “Not to compare this with Shakespeare, but there’s a Lady Macbeth kind of quality to her.”
So what makes Revenge, what many consider to be a guilty pleasure, such a success? According to Stowe, the show is a good fit for tough times.
“People are hurting and fearful economically about their livelihoods and their future. I think they feel, with what happened with the stock market and Wall Street, there’s a sense of villainy out there. And now they get to watch this completely fantasized version of that world,” she says. “People are enjoying seeing (the characters’) lives go askew.”

This show provides escapism on a scale you just can't achieve with so-called "reality tv". We need more of these shows to entertain us and make us forget our problems for a little while. Seems like everytime one of these good shows comes along, it gets cancelled after the first season (Eli Stone, The Event, V, Detroit 187, etc etc etc…). Hopefully this one will last a few more years.

I watched it last night and ENJOYED every minute of it! reminds of the Dynasty/ Dallas/ Falcon Crest soaps. The problem is ABC keeps delaying episodes for no reason. After last night's show, have to wait 2 weeks for new show. Stuff like that will cause people to watch something else.

And, She is the show – really, the rest of the cast members are mediocre at best with the acting.

I love this show. Alot of good acting and I enjoyed seeing William Devane. He was always one of my favorite actors. I never miss an episode.

This show is full of suspence and you can't sit still, it gets juicer every week.Everyone acting in this tv drama, are fantastic.I wish it doesn't end.

My favorite regular channel show EVER! I think Madeline stowe is wonderful and gorgeous and so are the rest of the cast. I mostly watch HbO and Showtime, but this show is addictive. However waiting two weeks between shows makes it lose momentum, so ABC–fix that problem!

ABC is starting to make a habit of having 1 episode and then making you wait a week or two for the next. It get very old and makes it harder to keep up with and stay interested in shows. Totally agree with you

Madeleine Stowe is today's version of Joan Collins in "'Dynasty. I love her icy, villianess character on the show. Emily Van Camp is ok, she still acts the same way she did on 'Brothers and Sisters'.

Love the show…should play it from the beginning again…, I am telling all my friends about it but you can't really get it unless you see it from the beginning…and how long will this keep up…just wondering!

This show is at best, the only redeeming quality ABC has left. After they took away AMC and OLTL and gave us the daytime CRAP…this is the only regular ABC show worth looking forward to week after (every other) week! Don't we all have a little desire for a little "revenge"?

I thought last night would be a cliff-hanger, pleasantly surprised! Love Stowe's bitch character, have seen lots of her movies, but she really stands out in this role.
