Bethenny Frankel Demands ‘WWHL’ Appearance Be Pre-Recorded, Does Not Want Surprise Questions

In another attempt to control her image, Bethenny Frankel demanded her interview for the March 22 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to be pre-recorded. The reality TV star did not want to answer any surprise questions to avoid coming off as bitter.

According to Radar Online, Bethenny Frankel insisted she not be blindsided by questions posed to her that could cause her to come across in a negative way to viewers.

“It was very important for her to not be surprised by any questions Andy asked. She didn’t want to come across as bitter or angry, so she needed to control the entire taping.”

Surprisingly, Bravo producers agreed to her demands as they are banking on Frankel’s return for the seventh season of Real Housewives of New York will boost ratings for the struggling show. RHONY is set to premiere next month.

This is not the first time Frankel has demanded editorial control in what appears to be attempts to protect her image. Radar Online reported earlier this month that Bethenny demanded she have final approval of any RHONY footage that she appeared in and Bravo producers agreed.

“Bethenny wanted control over any footage she was included in. She didn’t want to come across as pathetic in the aftermath of her failed talk show, and doomed marriage. Bravo balked at first, but realized Bethenny wouldn’t come back without it.”

One of the original Real Housewives of New York, Bethenny left the show after only three seasons to appear in her Bravo spinoff series Bethenny Getting Married and Bethenny Ever After. Bethenny Frankel tells Andy Cohen in tonight’s interview that she did not leave RHONY because she felt she was getting “too big” for the show, but because she was embarrassed to be a part of it.

Also on tonight’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, Frankel will open up to Andy Cohen about the breakup of her marriage to Jason Hoppy. Although the reality star’s alleged attempts at not wanting to come off as bitter and angry may be perceived as diva-like behavior, she could still end up coming across that way in her interview on WWHL as she tells Cohen the reason will never get legally married again is because “Marriage is the Hotel California. You can check out any time, but you can never leave.”

The Real Housewives of New York will premiere April 7 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
