A Man’s Girlfriend And Ex-Girlfriend Both Threw Themselves Into A River To See Which One He’d Rescue

A Chinese man got sick of his nagging ex-girlfriend and his new love both fighting each other for his affections, so he arranged a meeting between the three of them with the hopes of peacefully working things out. Instead, both women hurled themselves into a river and dared the man to pick which one he would rescue, News Corp Australia is reporting.

Wu Hsia, 21, has been dating Rong Tsao, 22, for about three months. During that time, his previous girlfriend, Jun Tang, 20, has harassed him constantly, trying to pressure Wu into getting back with her, and trying to convince Rong to leave him so she could get her man back.

Wu, however, just wanted peace, according to the Metro.

“I was sick of being nagged from both sides. Rong was moaning about Jun and Jun was moaning about her and it all go too much.”

So Wu arranged a meeting between the three to try to work out a peaceful solution. They agreed to meet at a park near a river in Ningbo, in China’s Zhejiang province.

“I became confused about who I wanted so I thought it would be best if we all met and talked about it.”

Having two suitors also put Wu in a position that few Chinese men will ever find themselves in. Thanks to China’s decades-long one-child policy, China is now woefully short on adult women and has a staggering surplus of adult men, according to this Inquisitr report. Millions of Chinese men will never be able to marry, simply for lack of eligible women in the Asian nation.

The meeting didn’t go as Wu had hoped.

“The girls began arguing and then Jun flipped and jumped off the bridge and straight into the water.”

To make matters worse, Rong jumped in also, according to a police spokesperson who had been called to the scene.

“The new girlfriend, fearing that he might indeed jump in to save his ex-lover, then jumped in as well and both of them within calling for him to rescue them from drowning.”

By now, you’re probably wondering which woman Wu rescued. Wonder no more: he saved his current girlfriend, Rong.

“I was put in a difficult situation and had to make a choice between right and wrong. And I chose Rong.”

As an added insult to injury for Jun, Wu was on his way home before he realized that Jun might possibly drown, so he called his brother to deal with her. He called the fire department, who rescued the young woman from the muddy water and took her to the hospital. She was unharmed.
