‘Arrow’ Spoilers: Oliver’s Response To Ra’s Al Ghul’s Offer, The Lazarus Pit And Lance Vs. Oliver

Could Oliver Queen go from being The Arrow to Ra’s al Ghul before the end of Arrow season 3? Well, that’s what Ra’s seems to want as he told him at the end of “Nanda Parbat” that he wasn’t going to kill him, but instead, wanted him to take over as the leader of the League of Assassins.

Oliver does seem to be considering Ra’s al Ghul’s offer as you can see in the promo for this week’s Arrow season 3 episode, appropriately titled “The Offer,” even if that offer is really not an offer. After all, this is Ra’s al Ghul and being asked to become the next Ra’s isn’t like any other job offer.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Stephen Amell has addressed the fact that “it’s an offer in name only,” and asks if Oliver even has the option of turning it down without risking something terrible.

“It’s very interesting to have a big bad this year who is now very invested in Oliver staying alive. …It’s not really an offer. It’s a demand. If Oliver says no, there are going to be incredibly dire consequences.”

Based on the sizzle reel that has been released teasing the rest of Arrow season 3, Oliver may not have much of a choice in this decision. Starling City may have cheered when the Arrow returned, but the same police force that backed him may be turning against him – including, and especially, Lance.

“There is a prophecy,” Malcolm says in the trailer. “The man that doesn’t perish at the blade of Ra’s al Ghul will become Ra’s al Ghul.”

Ray finds out how Oliver spends his night but is Arrow the one he’s going to stop or is the preview just cut to make it look that way? He may not be the only one after Oliver as it looks like Quentin Lance sits down for a chat with Ra’s, people are dressing up as the Arrow, the l after the vigilantes and the police raid Verdant’s basement.

“You’ve made us criminals, liars and victims. You, Mr. Queen, are not a hero. You’re a villain,” Lance tells him.

Plus, Felicity’s in danger, the Suicide Squad is back, and there’s some crazy stuff coming up in the flashbacks – including Shado?! She has to be a hallucination or there has to be some other explanation, right?

With Ra’s al Ghul in the picture, it only seems like a matter of time before the Lazarus Pit would appear on screen in Arrow season 3, and The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that that’s coming in this week’s episode as Oliver finds out about the supernatural elements in Nanda Parbat. The Lazarus Pit has already been heavily hinted at in previous episodes, when Ra’s spoke about his previous duels. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim has teased the Pit and what to expect as the supernatural comes to the CW series.

“All year long we’ve been teasing what comic book fans know as the Lazarus Pit. We’ll learn a lot more about that in 316. …The world of magic fits pretty well into the world of Arrow. We’ve already seen superpowers on the show. Once you’ve seen super powers, the occult and magic – that actually fits better in Arrow than superpowers.”

Arrow season 3 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW.
