Kanye West To Headline Glastonbury – Fans React With Petition


It has been finally announced that rapper Kanye West will headline this year’s Glastonbury in June, ending months of speculation. The festival organizer, Emily Eavis, announced the news last night via Twitter. She wrote, “We are thrilled to let you know we have the one and only Kanye West headlining Saturday night on the Pyramid Stage!”

West joins The Foo Fighters, who will headline on the Friday Night’s slot, as acts already announced as Sunday night’s act is yet to be announced.

Kanye, who seemed more interested on posting nude pictures of his wife, has followed in the footsteps of Jay-Z, who became the first hip-hop act to headline the prominent Rock festival back in 2008. At the time, the organizers of Glastonbury after they were roundly criticized, especially by Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher.

Now it seems that Kanye is also under fire as fans voiced their displeasure of a headlining hip-hop act.

Fans have taken to Twitter and have even launched a petition titled “Cancel Kanye West’s headline slot and get a rock band.”

“Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment.”

“Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music….he should listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving!”

“Lets prevent this musical injustice now!”

So far, the petition which is hosted on change.org has gathered over 10,000 signatures.
