Illegal Immigrant Admits To Rape And Sodomy Of 10-Year-Old Girl, Will He Face Charges?

On Friday, March 6, the Russellville Police Department arrested 27-year-old Ramiro Ajualip for raping and sodomizing a 10-year-old girl. Ajualip, an illegal immigrant, was reportedly a friend of the victim’s family. He had only been in the United States a couple weeks staying with the family before he committed the heinous crime, which reportedly took place on February 27. According to WHNT, the girl’s parents were not home at the time of the vicious assault.

The terrified child was reportedly afraid to tell her parents what Ajualip had done since he threatened her. However, once her parents did learn what he’d done, they immediately sought medical attention. During the interrogation, Ajualip reportedly admitted to investigators that he did, indeed rape the child.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett released a statement with information about Ajualip, his residency status and the shocking incident. He also spoke about the child and how such horrific incidents tend to affect children for years to come.

“From the information we have received, he has been here about four weeks,” stated Hargett. “He is undocumented, was a friend of the family and was actually living in the home where the child was….You know, a 10-year-old child that probably has no idea what’s really going on,” Hargett explained. “It’s sad because now that child is going to be scarred for the rest of her life.”

Ajualip is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail with bail set at $150,000. He is facing first-degree rape and sodomy charges. If convicted, he faces 10-years-to-life in prison, as such felonies are considered Class A crimes in the state of Alabama. However, there is also the possibility that he could face no charges at all.

According to the Daily Caller, Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing stated that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has not decided whether Ajualip would be held. Since he is an illegal immigrant, there is a chance he could be transferred to a deportation center and sent back to his country. If deported, there is a possibility he may not face charges for the heinous crime.

D.A. Rushing released a lengthy statement explaining the possibilities that could occur if Ajualip bonds out of jail.

“If they bond them out, then the ICE hold immediately takes on, and they’ll call ICE and a lot of times take them on to the processing center – even though they have these pending criminal charges,” Rushing explained. “In fact, there’s been several times where a person has ended up getting deported before they ever faced the charges… they are actually removed and put into their home country, never to have to face justice for the victim or anything else.”
