Avery Draughty: Arrested In The Thanksgiving Day Shooting Death Of Tiffany Silva, Cold Case Solved [Breaking]

Avery Draughty, a suspect in a cold case, was arrested on Saturday in Rancho Cordova. Sacbee is reporting that Avery Draughty was taken into custody and charged with the murder of Tiffany Silva, a 31-year old woman who was gunned down during a Thanksgiving Day party in November, 2013, according to CBS-Sacramento.

The killer, who had gone to the party with his girlfriend, Wanette Armstrong, escaped in a light colored vehicle. Police suspected Draughty very early in the investigation. The case went cold after police were unable to locate him. Saturday’s arrest gives Silva’s family and friends some measure of satisfaction.

On that fateful day, police were dispatched to a shooting at an apartment in the Del Paso Heights section of Sacramento. Witnesses say that gunfire broke out suddenly at around 2:50 p.m. that afternoon. Law enforcement officials said, at the time, that the shooting was not random, and that all the guests knew one another.

Over the years, Draughty’s appearance has changed drastically. In a prior mugshot, he was a slender black male with dreadlocks. In the recent mugshot, Avery Draughty appears heavier with shorter hair. Rancho Cordova police have not indicated what led them to the location, nor have they given any more details about the case. Please check back as we continue to update this tragic story.
