Don’t Forget, Today’s New ‘GTA V’ Update Adds More Than Just Online Heists

Now that online heists have officially launched within Grand Theft Auto V on all consoles, gamers can finally try out the highly-anticipated launch of the new co-op robberies. Those wanting to learn more about the heists can read a full breakdown from the Inquisitr of what the new content brings to GTA Online.

However, it’s easy to forget that the update also introduced several other new gameplay mechanics to the online mode of GTA V, considering gamers have been waiting for the release of online heists since the title first launched in 2013. This makes it easy for GTA V fans to only focus on the addition of online heists while ignoring the other changes brought about from this week’s patch.

Fully detailing the complete changes to the new Grand Theft Auto V update, Rockstar Games has released the entire patch notes from their official support website. The download is titled GTA V Title Update 1.21 on last-gen consoles and Patch 1.07 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The naming difference is due to the fact that the game was released a year later on newer platforms.

One of the biggest changes, other than online heists, is that GTA V users will now be given a rotating set of random daily objectives to complete each day after they have reached Rank 15. Players will receive a reward for completing all three daily challenges for each 24 hour period. Additionally, gamers will receive a large bonus if they finish each day’s objectives for an entire week. An even larger reward is promised to those that can continue to finish all available objectives over 28 days.

Today’s update also gives GTA V fans more to do while freely playing in an online lobby. When not currently in a mission, players can receive random tasks that can be completed in the open world of GTA Online. Different contacts will provide different free roam missions. For example, Trevor will periodically ask players to help blow up an aircraft while Lester might ask gamers to create a distraction by obtaining a wanted level.

In between the completion of online heists, players will also unlock new PvP modes. These are called Adversary Modes and purposely match GTA V in lopsided competitive challenges. The update has added a total of three such matches. Rockstar Games provided a brief description for each of these new modes.

  • Siege Mentality: In Siege Mentality, one to three players are placed in a tower and are tasked to survive for 4 minutes. They can’t leave the tower but they have full use of all weapons. Attackers are tasked with taking out the tower players and have unlimited lives but only use sawn-off shotguns.
  • Hasta La Vista: Hasta La Vista is based on an action classic: The Runners are attempting to reach a checkpoint on bicycles whilst being chased by the Attackers in trucks. No weapons are included in this versus mode; the Attackers in the trucks must rely solely on crushing the Runners. If one of the Runners reaches the checkpoint, they win. The Attackers must take out all of the Runners to win.
  • Come Out to Play: In Come Out to Play, a team of Runners attempt to survive a run on foot to an escape point while being pursued by Hunters riding bikes (or ATV’s). The Hunters must stay on their bikes and are limited to using sawn-off shotguns, but have infinite lives. The Runners only have one life each, but all their weapons to defend themselves with.
