Miss Piggy to be BAFTA Host

Miss Piggy will be interviewing celebrities on the red carpet at Sunday’s British Academy Film and Television Awards, a.k.a. the BAFTAs.

The iconic muppet was booked to interrogate the stars by Orange, the sponsor of the awards, and while there’s no word on what she’ll be receiving for the gig, the star herself is looking forward to getting the juiciest answers from the red carpet-dwellers. In a statement, the diva swine promised:

“Imagine the likes of Clooney, Dujardin, Fassbender, Oldman, and Pitt achieving the very pinnacle of their careers by getting a chance to speak with the one and only moi — Miss Piggy! Naturally, I will be asking questions that only moi would dare to ask.”

Although the BAFTAs generally play third fiddle to the Oscars and Golden Globes, it looks like there’ll be an extra layer of glamor this year. Spencer McHugh, director of brand at Orange, said:

“We couldn’t be more delighted that an icon of Miss Piggy’s stature has agreed to host our red carpet show from this year’s BAFTA’s. Having her there is very exciting for us and we can’t wait to see what great interviews she gets on the night.”

Miss Piggy stars in The Muppets, which opened on November 23, 2011 and has since grossed $87.5 million in North America. The film is out in Europe this week. Will you be tuning in for Miss Piggy’s hard-hitting interviews this Sunday?
