Baby Found On Porch: Abandoned Newborn Baby Listed In ‘Good Condition’ At Arkansas Hospital

A baby found on a porch in Arkansas is listed in “good condition” at a nearby hospital after being rushed their on Monday. According to THV 11, the newborn was abandoned outside of a home in Garland County. The homeowner called police upon finding the child on the doorstep, wrapped in a blanket, but had no idea where the baby had come from, or who might have dropped him or her off.

“Investigators are working to identify and locate the mother of the infant, and anyone else who may have information related to this incident. As of Tuesday afternoon, officials with Arkansas Children’s Hospital said the baby is in ‘good’ condition. Additionally, the baby is said to now be in custody of the Arkansas Department of Human Services.”

The baby found on the porch was outside for an unspecified amount of time. According to Arkansas Online, police are doing their best to locate the child’s mother. They have asked that anyone with information come forward in hopes of solving this mystery. Anyone with information about the child is asked to contact Sgt. Mike Wright at (501) 622-3690. According to Sport Act, authorities said that the baby was just a few hours old. It’s unknown why the person who abandoned the child chose that particular house, but it seems like this was just an effort to get rid of the baby without having any responsibility to it. Many states actually have safe havens set up where people can bring unwanted babies without having to provide any additional details. It is unknown if anything like this was in place in the Garland County area.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a story about an abandoned baby made headlines in January. A cat was heralded a hero for keeping the baby warm. The child was left outside in a box, but the cat cuddled up inside, shielding the child from the cold temperatures. A person nearby heard the cat’s meowing, and stopped to have a look.

“She is very placid and friendly, so when I heard her meowing, I thought that perhaps she had injured herself. Normally she would have come and said hello to me. You can imagine my shock when I saw her lying in a box next to a baby,” said Irina Lavora, 68.
