‘The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev Comedy-Horror Movie ‘The Final Girls’ Out This Week, Leaves TV Jealousy Rumors Behind

Nina Dobrev’s new foray onto the silver screen sees her starring in the Todd Strauss-Schulson-directed The Final Girls, debuting in theaters nationwide this Friday March 13.

The movie marks further determined steps for Dobrev in her attempts to slowly leave behind The Vampire Diaries. After roles in Let’s Be Cops and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, Nina here tackles the character of Vicki in The Final Girls, written by M. A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller. According to IMDb, the comedy-horror film follows “a young woman grieving the loss of her mother, a famous scream queen from the 1980s “who is sucked into the screen-world of her mother’s most successful movie, wherein the two are reunited.” Also starring Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games), Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story: Coven), and Malin Akerman (Couples Retreat), The Final Girls is sure to offer as much humor as horror, if the YouTube outtake clip is anything to go by.

26-year old Nina Dobrev has been in the gossip columns a lot lately, ever since ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder got engaged to Twilight star, Nikki Reed, in January after Reed’s divorce from her first husband. As the Inquisitr recently reported, Dobrev has been gaining a reputation for her taste for Hollywood nightlife as rumors circulate about jealousy on The Vampire Diaries set, worsened now that Somerhalder has taken on some directorial duties (as has co-star Paul Wesley). Given that Nina and Somerhalder broke up back in 2013, surely any jealousy has long since dissipated, even though the engagement came after only six months of dating 26-year old Reed (a former friend of Dobrev’s).

Indeed, while 36-year old Somerhalder and Reed plan their wedding and discuss starting a family after The Vampire Diaries reaches a conclusion, as the International Business Times reports, at the same time it seems that not all cast members will stay to see the close of the show. As Cinema Blaze reports, Dobrev’s recent Hollywood excursions have sparked rumors of her prepared exit, while Paul Wesley recently hinted that he himself has started to feel the show’s pull waning. Interesting, when once upon a time the show began with a romance between Dobrev and Wesley.

“I think if it weren’t for the directing maybe I would be feeling somewhat stagnant, but I think next season will be kind of interesting because I think it’s – I think they’re gonna shift the dynamic because I’m not sure if it’s gonna be the same cast, to be honest with you.”

Despite this, The Vampire Diaries has recently has Season 7 confirmed, despite worryingly low ratings. And while, as Contact Music reports, Somerhalder and Reed call each other “human” rather than fiancé/fiancée, Nina Dobrev seems to be living life to the fullest, happily chasing after her ambitions and free of conversations about the preparational benefits of adopted pets for future babies. Good luck, Nina.
