Break The Internet: Kim Kardashian Named ‘Most Influential Person On The Internet’

Kim Kardashian broke the internet once again. According to Time magazine, the reality star is one of the “30 Most Influential People on the Internet.”

Kardashian, 34, was previously named the second most-influential character of 2014 thanks to the success of her mobile game Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. She joins the ranks of Beyonce, Taylor Swift, J.K. Rowling, Jimmy Fallon, President Obama and Caitlin McNeill, the woman who created the viral dress debate, according to The Huffington Post.

Some people have been scratching their head over the news. Even fans are wondering what makes Kim so influential. She is typically known for her reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, her countless selfies, and for what she wears – or doesn’t wear. Kim also broke the internet when she debuted her platinum blonde hair at Paris Fashion Week on Thursday. Well, Time magazine explains her influence.

“She may tout millions of fans in real life, but Kardashian, 34, truly stands out on Instagram. There, she has perfected the art of the selfie: some with famous friends, some in luxurious bathrooms, and all to the delight of her 27 million followers. Long a performer in a reality TV show produced and edited by others, Kardashian also deftly uses Twitter to define and defend her own narrative (‘Her eyes were closed and I was feeling my look! Can I live?!?’ she sniped after being criticized for cropping her daughter out of a selfie), and of course to promote her various business ventures.”

Kim has figured out a way to market her brand. She posed full frontal nude for Paper magazine. She also admitted that her brand would diminish without the use of social media. Kim credits Instagram and Twitter for keeping her and her family relevant.

“I don’t think social media was that heavy when we started our show, but I think we really evolved with social media.”

Kardashian also spoke out about the importance of social media for her interview with AdWeek.

“Social media plays a huge role in my life and my career. I came at the right time when people just started to get into reality shows. Social media works when you’re open, when you’re honest and people want to feel like they’re getting a little glimpse into your life. It’s not that I brand myself like I’m a celebrity. It’s just I’m living my life and sharing a part of my life with the world.”

It’s no surprise that she’s had a major influence on Instagram. Kim has surpassed over 27 million followers on the photo sharing app. She celebrated by sharing a photo of herself in a leopard print thong, as previously reported by the Inquisitr.
