Last week a Ron Paul supporter was allegedly harassed by Newt Gingrich’s security team. Edward Dillard is now suing the GOP candidate for assault and battery.

Dillard says that he was at a polling station in Florida on January 31st when Newt and his wife Callista walked up to him. Dillard says that he shook Newt’s hand, but when Gingrich noticed that Dillard was wearing a Ron Paul T-Shirt he moved on to greet his supporters.

Dillard then says that Newt had his security team harass Dillard until he left the area. According to the lawsuit, Newt’s security team repeatedly stepped on Dillard’s feet in an attempt to make him leave the area.

The lawsuit reads: “(The security official) lifted his heeled shoe over Dillard’s right foot and dug the back of it into his skin, twisting it side-to-side like he was stomping out a cigarette, causing a fracture to Dillard’s right foot.”

Dillard said that the security official encouraged other supporters by yelling, “stomp his toes.”

TMZ reports that Dillard is suing Newt, the campaign and the security firm for assault and battery.

Do you think Dillard will win his lawsuit against Newt Gingrich?

Hahaha, yeah that was stupid as hell. I think the first rule of private security for a politician is not to physically harm anyone… Next time hire me- I could use the work and I wouldn't do anything stupid like break a voter's toes!

I bet I could get the public back in love with ya again, too. Gosh, I really wish you won the primaries. You're so much better than the other candidates! I don't understand how you're not on top… Maybe stepping on too many toes! Who knows!
