‘The Vampire Diaries’ Spoilers: Big Changes Are On The Way For Stefan

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 will return to CW next Thursday night, and fans can expect Stefan to deal with a lot of drama after the last episode. Not only will he have to deal with the fact that Caroline shut off her humanity switch, but Enzo is still around causing trouble too.

Entertainment Weekly shared a new teaser about the episode from Ian Somerhalder on Friday. He went behind the camera for the first time to direct the next Vampire Diaries episode, and he had already teased some major events would take place once Caroline’s humanity switch is on the off position.

Somerhalder teased even more about the episode, and his new teasers surround Stefan Salvatore, who is played by Paul Wesley.

“Caroline shutting off her humanity switch is going to have massive repercussions for everyone. ‘Stefan makes a very, very tough decision that changes everything for him for quite a while,’ teases Ian Somerhalder, who’s directing next week’s episode. When I pressed whether Stefan will also be shutting off his humanity switch, Somerhalder played coy. ‘Stefan goes through a pretty intense transformation,’ he says.”

As for Enzo, he is still working on destroying Stefan’s niece. He has made it his mission to ruin any happiness Stefan has, and he is using Sarah Salvatore to do it.

In addition to the Caroline and Enzo drama on the episode, the return of Mama Salvatore will play a major role on upcoming episodes of The Vampire Diaries, according to International Business Times. On the next episode, Damon will need to decide how to tell his brother that their mother is alive. Bonnie dropped that bombshell on Damon when she showed him a video of her departure from the Gemini prison world.

Fans will learn why Stefan and Damon’s mother was sent away to the Gemini prison as the season progresses. The Vampire Diaries Season 7 is already set, but that could be the last season of the CW drama.

Paul Wesley shared his thoughts on the future of The Vampire Diaries in an interview with Collider.

“I think that we have another year in it and then I’m not sure anything past that. For me, I’m really still enjoying it because I’m directing it now and so that, to me, is like this really new thing. I think if it weren’t for the directing maybe I would be feeling somewhat stagnant, but I think next season will be kind of interesting because I think it’s – I think they’re gonna shift the dynamic because I’m not sure if it’s gonna be the same cast, to be honest with you. So it’ll be interesting to see what they come up with. And then I don’t know what’s gonna happen past that. I just, I don’t know.”

What do you think? Would you watch The Vampire Diaries with a different cast? Are you excited to see what happens next to Stefan on the current season?
