‘The Voice’ Preview: Battle Rounds Begin With Team Blake

The Voice moves into battle rounds Monday, so if you cheered as your favorite coach added more and more singers you love to their teams, now you have to watch them as they are whittled down. The Voice released a preview of one full battle round for Team Blake, and this clip shows just how these battle rounds can get.

How do you choose between Brian Johnson and Joshua Davis?

Davis starts The Voice battle singing “Knocking on Heaven’s Door,” and you hear his gritty tone with flawless pitch and soul, so you think he’s the one. Then Johnson joins in with his smooth tone with flawless pitch and soul and it’s like, “Hey, wait a minute…”

Such is the life of being a coach on The Voice. The other coaches don’t envy the choice Blake Shelton has to make, with Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams refusing to take sides in the critique. Actually, Adam Levine doesn’t make a recommendation either, but at least he’s honest and calls out the other Voice coaches — and himself — on why they’re staying neutral.

“I’m just going to be honest with you guys. They’re not saying who they would pick because they both know, like myself, that one of you will be stolen.”

So who do you think Blake Shelton will pick, and just as importantly, who will pick up the almost certain steal?

There are still five open spots on the coaches’ teams going into this week, and for the first time in the history of The Voice, the show will finish the blind auditions and go right into the battle rounds Monday.

While The Voice hasn’t posted any other full videos of battle rounds, we do know some other contestants facing off for Team Blake through the previews of the teams with their advisers. Meghan Trainor helped prepare Shelton’s team and the preview shows dueling cowboys with black-hat Cody Wickline and white-hat Matt Snook.

For Team Adam, with adviser Ellie Goulding, The Voice battle rounds feature Blaze Johnson vs. Michael Leier; James McNeiece vs. Tonya Boyd-Cannon; Barry Minnefield vs. Jack Gregori; and Deanna Johnson vs. Nicolette Mare’.

For Team Xtina, with adviser Nick Jonas, we’ll see Ameera Delandro vs. Sonic and India Carney vs. Clinton Washington.

In The Voice battle preview clip for Team Pharrell, Anthony Riley and Travis Ewing will duke it out in one battle, with Noelle Bybee and early favorite Sawyer Fredericks in another. Ashley Morgan and Mia Z are also seen in The Voice battle previews for Team Pharrell.

Here are The Voice teams so far before the last blind auditions and the battle rounds begin Monday, with Pharrell needing two more team members and the other three coaches seeking one more each:
