NFL Players Corey Smith, Marquis Cooper Missing At Sea

Detroit Lions defensive end Corey Smith and Oakland Raiders linebacker Victor ‘Marquis’ Cooper are among four people reported missing at sea in the Gulf of Mexico off Florida.

The four left for a fishing trip 6:30am Saturday morning from Clearwater, Florida. They were expected to return the same day, and didn’t. The Coast Guard was notified they were missing at 2am Sunday local time.

The Coast guard dispatched boats, helicopters, and fixed wing aircraft to search a 750 square mile area.

Smith’s agent Ron Del Duca told reporters that Smith owned the 21-foot (6-meter) boat and that the pair regularly went fishing after playing together for Tampa Bay back in 2004.
