Depression Cooking with Clara a hit on YouTube

Youtube may have created its oldest star.
91 year old great grandmother Clara Cannucciari has started Depression Cooking with Clara, an instructional cooking series focused on recipes from the Great Depression. The pitch is simple: American has fallen on hard times, and there’s a need for these simple and cheap recipes to feed the nation once again.
Some of her recipes include Clara’s Poorman’s Meal, Pasta With Peas, Peppers & Eggs.
Here’s Clara’s first episode with the recipe for pasta and peas. Here YouTube channel, with the rest of her recipes can be found here.

what a joy to watch Clara do such simple cooking. I hope she is able to continue the little cooking shows. And thank you for doing the video of you cooking. What wonderful idea. God bless both of you.

I just heard about Clara on the evening news and went right to the Internet to view her first video for making pasta with peas. She's a wonderful lady, very insprirational and reminds me of my dear Italian aunties who are all marvelous cooks and also dealth with Depression-era cooking. I love hearing Clara's anecdotes about her life during the Great Depression and enjoyed learning about making pasta with peas and potatoes. I plan to watch all her other videos as well and I think she should write a cookbook! Thanks for sharing your wisdom and cooking knowledge!

Depression Cooking with Clara is simply wonderful. What a great idea. Yesterday, I made Pasta & Peas. My mother (deceased 37 years) used to make this dish when I was a child. It's very tasty and brought back wonderful memories for me; and saved me money too!
I can't wait for more of Clara's recipes!!!!
