Mega Millions Winning Numbers Results: Did Anyone Win The Jackpot March 3?

Hoping to win the Mega Millions jackpot tonight? If you match all six winning numbers on March 3, you will take home the $15 million lottery prize — or share it if there is more than one winning ticket sold.

At $15 million, Tuesday night’s jackpot isn’t a whopper, but the lump sum payout of $8.3 million (before taxes) is still enough to pay off your bills, take a vacation, and live comfortably. According to the Boston Globe, your millions will go even further if follow these tips for lucky lottery winners, get good legal advice, and hire a financial advisor before you cash in your ticket.

The Mega Millions drawing takes place at 11 p.m. ET at WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia. The winning numbers are posted on the Mega Millions website shortly after the drawing.

The winning numbers for March 3 are: 9, 11, 42, 44, 50, Mega: 3, Megaplier: 4

Why is the jackpot so low? According to the Plain Dealer, one person won the $124 million Mega Millions jackpot on February 27, so the jackpot went back down to the $15 million minimum. Just in case you haven’t checked your ticket, Friday’s numbers were: 7-49-53-60-64 Mega Ball 4.

It may be too late to buy a ticket for tonight’s drawing, but you can buy one for the next Mega Millions drawing that will take place on March 6. If no one wins tonight’s jackpot, it will rise to about $20 million.

Mega Millions tickets are sold in 44 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Check this list to find a lottery retailer near you. Tickets are only $1 each, but if you want to add the Megaplier, you will have to pay an additional $1.

The Mega Millions lottery game has grown over the years. It started out as the Big Game back in 1996 and was offered in six states: Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Virginia. It quickly grew to become a popular lottery game in the U.S., with many people playing Mega Millions on Tuesdays and Fridays, and Powerball on Wednesday and Saturday.

According to the Mega Millions website, the biggest jackpot ever awarded in “any jackpot game ever” was the $656 million Mega Millions prize given away on March 30, 2012. Three people split the gigantic jackpot, with winning tickets sold in Kansas, Illinois, and Maryland. Now that’s a nice return on a $1 investment.
