You Didn’t Really See Dakota Johnson’s Pubic Hair in ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’

Of all the hoopla, criticism, celebration, drunkenness, public masturbation and protests surrounding the release of Fifty Shades of Grey, you probably didn’t give a lot of thought to Dakota Johnson, ala Anastasia Steele, in the form of her pubic hair, even though you may have seen a glimpse of it. But rest assured, it wasn’t hers. Nor was it a stand-in or body-double’s. It was totally fake.

While Dakota Johnson has seemed indecisive about her parents, Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, seeing the movie, they really aren’t going to see their daughter’s private parts, Fifty Shades cinematographer Seamus McGarvey said, nor is anyone else. Johnson had previously stated she used a body double during the famous “spanking” scene, preferring to not be spanked. But there’s a lot of Johnson that we saw that actually was not Johnson, it turns out. According to Crushable, during the nude scenes, Johnson had something covering her privates which later on had to be covered with fake pubic hair. Apparently, the character of Ana Steele is not savvy to shaving her girly parts. McGarvey spoke about what you actually saw during the rather tame scenes that contained not-real nudity.

“We were protecting the actors. Jamie had a cover over his penis. Dakota had kind of a patch that went over her pubic area, and right around her whole body. We were in the curious situation, in postproduction, of adding pubic hair. I wouldn’t say it was the highlight of my career, but it certainly was one of the most surreal scenarios.”

Hollywood is generally anti-pubic hair, as reported here by the Inquisitr. The scripted version of the virginal and inexperienced Ana Steele required hers to be intact for the movie, as it seemed doubtful that she would be considering shaving hers off when she had never had an e-mail address, let alone a boyfriend.

The patch reportedly helped the actors feel a bit less exposed during the movie’s sex scenes, and they also helped contribute to the necessity of Hollywood’s special effects artists, who are credited for Dakota Johnson’s computer generated pubic hair. Many women had expressed delight that a women was depicted in a sexually favorable light with pubic hair, what some considered one of the more redeeming parts of the movie. But it turns out that was yet another façade.

Many people have expressed disappointment that the movie lacked the passion they were expecting. Movie-goers and Fifty Shades fans, what are your thoughts on the nude scenes?
