Josh And Anna Duggar Reveal Gender Of New Baby — Pink Or Blue? [Video]

Josh and Anna Duggar revealed the gender of their fourth child, expected in early July.

The couple already have a daughter, Mackynzie, age five, and two sons, Michael, who is three, and Marcus, who is one. And when it came to the gender of baby number four, it seems as though the Duggar house was divided.

“Josh thought it was a boy, I thought it was a girl,” Anna told People. “Mackynzie wanted a girl. Michael wanted a boy.”

But the couple recently had an ultrasound that laid the gender issue to rest.

During the appointment, Josh and Anna turned their heads while the technician put the results in the envelope. The envelope was then taken to Georgetown Cupcakes, a business that also just happens to have a show on TLC. The business had agreed to fill the cupcakes with blue icing if a boy, and pink if a girl, as Anna explained in the video.

The kids seemed more excited about the actual cupcakes than the gender of the baby, but who can blame them? Those cupcakes really do look pretty good.

Anna, Josh and their three kids bite into their cupcakes simultaneously, revealing pink frosting.

So it looks like this branch of the Duggars is about to even up again with a new baby girl.

Josh Duggar at 26 is the eldest of the Duggar clan. He and his wife Anna moved from Arkansas to Washington, D.C. after Josh accepted a position as the executive director of the controversial lobbying organization, the Family Research Council. This is the couple’s first pregnancy being away from “home,” so-to-speak.

“It’s different being away from our family than during our other pregnancies,” Josh says. “We have to learn to be on our own up here, being so far away. We are close in our hearts and get to see our family often and we are glad about that.”

So, will Josh and Anna have 19 kids like Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar? The short answer is no, probably not. The couple remains committed to having as “many children as God will give them,” but Josh says it’s pretty unlikely they would have as many or more than his parents.

“I’ve done the math, and there is no way we can have 20 kids that I can figure,” Josh says. “But the reason most people don’t have a large family is because they feel the financial pressures. It’s tough to have so many kids in today’s world.”

He admits that there is pressure, but believes the blessings of children far outweigh anything else.

“Is there pressure? Sure, there is. But one of the biggest blessings is to have kids and teach them to serve God and others and be the best they can be. You can have a career, and be famous and have lots of money, but that will fade. Children will be there. When we were young, we would visit nursing homes with my family and when I talked to people there, the number one joy they wanted to share was their children and family. And those who didn’t have children expressed the greatest regret. We want to be the best parents we can be.”

The couple is making a delivery plan, as well, and hope to have yet another home birth.

“We have talked a lot about what we feel comfortable with,” says Anna. “We definitely prefer a home birth, and we found a midwifery group who can deliver in the area. They also have a birthing center and we could go there. Josh and I would definitely like to take it one step at a time. We want to make sure the baby is developing normally, we want to make sure it is a safe situation, and we are really glad the birth center we have chosen has a great network of doctors. It has put our hearts at ease as parents.”

As for Michael, the middle of the three Duggar kids, he’s resigned himself to having another sister instead of another brother. “I’m happy the baby is a girl,” he says.
