‘Hot GRITS’ VH1 Show Gains Buzz With ‘First Look’ Trailer

The new VH1 show Hot GRITS is certainly gaining tons of buzz, with the first look trailer video of Hot GRITS on VH1‘s website gaining thousands of views within days. For those folks who weren’t raised in the south, apparently the acronym GRITS stands for “girls raised in the south,” and the new reality show displays a Ducky Dynasty or Honey Boo Boo type of mentality, except this time it’s coming out the mouths of those women who aren’t afraid to wrestle small alligators and appear less than intelligent on TV — at least some of them — as one tries to distinguish the term melting pot from the term pot luck and another warns a man that she knows her way around a set of testicles, so he better not mess with her.

“I know how to castrate bulls.”

“Pot luck? Melting pot?”

As reported by Jezebel, some viewers are really looking forward to the Hot GRITS show, especially those familiar with the south, those who know where places like Valdosta, Georgia, are located, without having to plop the city’s name into Google Maps.

“They may be Georgia Peaches, but they sure ain’t sweet. Hot GRITS premieres on Wednesday, March 25th + 8/7c on VH1!”

Indeed, perhaps the Hot GRITS show is VH1‘s answer to the type of super-dressed up reality show franchises like The Real Housewives of Atlanta from Bravo, which tends to show the group of women always dressed to the nines, even when they are simply hanging out in their McMansions or going to a barbeque. Those events usually require hair and make-up or even a “glam squad” to get some of the women camera ready, so Hot GRITS can represent the opposite of those types of visuals.

On their blog entry about the show, VH1 educates viewers about the meaning of the term, and urges folks to follow the new set of women on the horizon.

“What are “GRITS” anyhow? You’ll be educated on VH1?s Hot GRITS that G.R.I.T.S are girls raised in the south (and proud of it, y’all!) Check out the first look at the new series that follows the young, hot, and feisty women as they party and BBQ their southern-fried days away. Hot GRITS premieres Wednesday, March 25th at 8/7c only on VH1!”

As reported by the Inquisitr, the previous VH1 show called Sorority Sisters was cancelled after viewer backlash. Perhaps Hot GRITS will fare better.
