Super Bowl Bet: Mayors Wager Luxury Travel Deals
The Super Bowl may be a game between two teams, but it often seems like a battle between two cities. Michael Bloomberg, New York Giants fan and Mayor of New York City, and Thomas Menino, New England Patriots fan and Mayor of Boston, have made a Super Bowl bet that will see one lucky family get the VIP treatment in the losing city.
If the Patriots win, Mayor Bloomberg will fly one Boston family out to New York to enjoy a weekend in the Big Apple. If the Giants win, Menino will fly a New York family out to Boston.
Bloomberg said:
“New York sports teams have a history of cleaning up when they go to Boston – and now our fans will have a chance to do the same. Any New Yorker not too tired from salsa dancing Sunday night will be able to enter an online lottery for the chance to win.”
According to the NY Post, the New York family’s Super Tour of Boston will include dinner at Legal Seafoods Harborside and the Top of the Hub restaurant, four tickets to any performance at the Citi Performing Arts center, and tickets to a Bruins or Celtics game. The New York family will also get a VIP tour of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, a VIP tour through the Boston Public Library to see the personal diaries of John Adams, a VIP tour of the Samuel Adams Brewery, and a photo with Menino.
Menino said:
“I have a lot of faith in the Patriots. They carried us this far, and I hope they’ll carry the Vince Lombardi Trophy right back to Boston. But either on the field or off, the City of Boston wins by being able to showcase some of the best our great city has to offer.”
The Boston family’s Super Tour of New York will include dinner at the Russian Tea Room, dinner at B. Smith’s restaurant, a Knicks or Rangers game, and tickets to Phantom of the Opera. The Boston family will also get VIP tours of the Statue of Liberty, the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Brewery, and a picture with Mayor Bloomberg.
The NY Post reports that fans will be able to enter an online lottery after the Super Bowl to win the VIP tour.
