Cat Dies After Owner Dyes it Pink, Claiming Color Had Healing Properties

A young kitten was robbed of its right to a healthy life and old age after being poisoned to death by its owner failed to properly research hair dye she applied to it.

Elena Lenina attended a Pretty in Pink party in Russia, which required all guests to wear pink. As Elena’s guest, the kitten was also forced to wear pink. Rather than forcing the feline to wear colored clothing, Lenina decided to dye the cat’s hair in an attempt to match her own outfit. After the party, Lenina lost interest in the kitten, allowing it to die of poisoning from the hair dye.

NANA 10 reported on Elena and her kitten, sharing that the woman is being lambasted for her cruelty toward the kitten and her contribution to its death. The actress and author claims she was told the pink hair dye would be beneficial to the Kitten’s health.

Metro shared that Lenina has been under attack from multiple animal rights groups for allowing the kitten to be covered in the toxic hair dye. According to attendees of the Pretty in Pink party, the kitten was not happy at the event, constantly attempting to get away from Lenina. However, it was the focus of much attention toward her. After the party, Lenina lost interest and allowed the kitten to remain pink, rather than attempting to remove the color. As the kitten licked itself, the toxins within the dye poisoned the feline until it finally died.

Lenina has defended her decision to dye the kitten pink, claiming her vet reassured her the coloring was non-toxic and would actually benefit the kitten’s hair.

‘The pink colour was especially chosen for its healing properties and also strengthens the cat’s hair. My vet told me it was a beneficial addition to him.’

After the kitten died, she had it examined by another vet, who claimed the hair dye was toxic and the result of the kitten’s death.

Many of her closest friends have berated her for the publicity stunt, including artist Yuri Kuklachev, who claimed her stunt was “pointless and cruel.”

Individuals who have protested Lenina’s act have started a petition to coerce the local governor police to investigate further into the animal abuse case. Several thousand people have voluntarily signed the petition in an attempt to force Lenina to accept the consequences of her actions. At this time, the governor police have yet to respond.
