Danny Gokey and Leyicet Peralta Wed in Florida

Congratulations are in order for former American Idol standout Danny Gokey.

Gokey, who finished third on season 8 of the popular reality TV singing competition, wed his fiancee, model Leyicet Peralta, in a small ceremony in Florida on Sunday, January 29. The pair exchanged their vows before 100 of their family and closest friends, People magazine reported. The theme of the wedding was “romance and love.”

“We are so thankful to have found each other and now be able to spend the rest of our lives together,” the couple, who announced their engagement in December, told People . “We pray our gratitude grows more every day because there is so much for us to do now.”

Fan favorite Gokey, 31, lost his first wife Sophia in 2008 when she died after undergoing a routine surgery for congenital heart disease.

Gokey and Peralta, 25, honored the memory of his Sophia by asking wedding attendees to gift donation to Sophia’s Heart, the children’s charity founded by Gokey.

As for the newlyweds, The Boot reports that they will be forced to put their honeymoon plans on hold as Daney is hosting the five-day Sophia’s Heart cruise on Feb. 2, with fellow former ‘American Idol’ contestant Matt Giraud also on board to join in entertaining the travelers.
