The CW Is ‘In Development’ On Another Comic Book Superhero Show, Find Out Which

The CW has been making a name for itself among TV networks as the network for comic book adaptations. They pretty much started the trend with Smallville (2001-2011), and remain the standard bearer for well-done comic book related TV shows. Arrow premiered in 2013, and this fall saw the premiere of The Flash. But it seems the network is not done. This report by the Inquisitr last October seems to be coming true.

According to Uproxx, the CW is “In development” with a spin-off to their Arrow/Flash DC Comics franchise. The Atom is rumored to be part of the CW’s next hit comic book adaptation. The news circling the web has said that Brandon Routh (Formerly of Superman Returns, but now paying Ray Palmer/Atom), Victor Garber (Currently one-half of Firestorm), Wentworth Miller (Currently the villain Captain Cold) and Caity Lotz (Currently, Dead. Formerly, Sara Lance/Canary) could be teaming up in combinations in a new show based off of DC Comics’ Brave and the Bold series.

Certainly, there is a bit of confusion with the casting choices to the next CW epic. One, is obviously the fact that Caity Lotz’s Sara Lance/Canary, is dead. Though, viewers still do not know how Oliver Queen was brought back to life, and the Lazarus Pit is teased every time Ra’s Al Ghul takes a bath. It’s possible that Canary will take a bath herself (even though her body was buried, but that didn’t stop Jason Todd, the second Robin, from coming back from the dead in the comic books).

In addition to the dead Canary, Wentworth Miller, aka Captain Cold, is a nemesis to the The Flash, so that might be odd as well. Only one-half of Firestorm, Victor Garber, is mentioned as a cast member. Robbie Amell (Arrow’s Stephen Amell’s cousin) plays the other half, Ronnie Raymond.

Despite all of this knowledge, according to Deadline, the CW project is still in the early stages of development. In fact, it does not technically have a title at this time. Deadline reports that CW’s president, Mark Pedowitz, had already hinted at this idea in January. For now, the CW’s most likely release of Brave and the Bold, Atom and Friends, or whatever it might be called, will hit next midseason.

It should come as no surprise, at this point, that a likely Atom spin-off is in the works because it has been predicted in the past. The Hollywood Reporter was predicting a CW spin-off as recently as last month. However, it was little more than a rumor at that time.

Though, all reports are hot for the idea that it will be Atom-centered CW spin-off, recent events in Arrow might contradict this idea. Atom fans went into an uproar as Arrow’s Atom jetted off into the sky, after Ray Palmer completed his suit. For non-comic book readers, the Atom had various costume changes. He did gain other abilities, depending on the comic book. However, flying and an Iron Man-like suit, was not any of them.

It is unknown if it is an Atom spin-off, and it is true that CW’s Arrow took a season or so to get off the ground, so who really knows what the future might bring.

What are your thoughts? Would you like to see an Atom CW spin-off show? Would you prefer it be Firestorm based, or should CW not make any more?

Leave your thoughts and ideas.
