‘COD: Advanced Warfare’ Havok DLC Delayed For PC, Frustrating Gamers

Call of Duty‘s troubled history with the PC continues with Advanced Warfare. Sledgehammer Games announced Thursday that the planned release of the “Havoc” DLC pack was delayed, frustrating many gamers on the platform.

While the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 version of the “Havok” DLC were released, Sledgehammer confirmed the delay on its official Facebook page. The developer didn’t specify the exact reason for the delay other than an unspecified “issue.”

“UPDATE: We have encountered an unexpected issue with the PC release for Call of Duty: ?#?AdvancedWarfare‘s first DLC content pack, “Havoc,” and we’re holding its release until March 3rd. We don’t take this decision lightly, but rest assured that our team is working with Activision to get this content to the PC community as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we’re turning on ?#?DoubleXP for all PC players to enjoy.”

Sadly, this is only the latest problem for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on the PC. The game has received mixed reviews from the Steam community. Most of the negative reviews revolve around lag, poor network performance, no dedicated servers, and the lack of updates to the game compared to the PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Hackers are also a major issue with the game, along with a declining number of actual players. Many of these issues are repeats from previous versions of Call of Duty on the PC, unfortunately.

Owners of the Advanced Warfare reacted negatively to the news of the delay despite the offer of Double XP.

The new Exo Zombies mode appears to be a particular pain point for some. “I only bought CoD AW for Zombies — the customer service for CoD games diminishes year after year,” Rhys Burgess wrote in response to the Facebook announcement. “Absolutely disappointed.”

The Twitter responses were also overwhelmingly negative.

The Havok DLC delay following a month of waiting after the Xbox release of the add-on has clearly upset fans. Some are asking for refunds of their Season Pass. The Call of Duty franchise continues to disappoint on the PC despite monstrous console sales. What should Activision do to turn this around?
