‘Gotham’: Fish Mooney Meets Dr. Dulmacher, Plus Ben McKenzie Discusses The Joker

Ready to meet another well-known comic book character in Gotham Season 1? That’s what’s coming up in the next new episode, “Everyone Has a Cobblepot,” and this is a character whose introduction has been teased for some time and that has been mentioned more recently connected to that basement where Fish Mooney is making another name for herself.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Colm Feore is playing Dr. Francis Dulmacher, also known as The Dollmaker. He was first mentioned in Gotham Episode 2, when people were kidnapping kids off the street for body parts for his experiments.

Now, he has a basement of people for those body parts – and when Fish Mooney decided that she wouldn’t let one of his men take her body parts, she spooned out one of her own eyes and stepped on it. (You can get a glimpse at Dr. Dulmacher’s operation in the promo below.) So now there’s probably a question of what Dr. Dulmacher will do with a prisoner who won’t let him use her body parts since it’s very unlikely that the show is going to kill off Fish.

Feore makes his debut as Dr. Dulmacher in “Everyone Has a Cobblepot,” and ComicBook.com has a first look at the official DC Comics art of the character in Gotham Season 1 and describes him as, “with a zealotry bordering on madness, and aided by his genius-level intellect and vast medical expertise, Dr. Dulmacher pursues his demented researches, even as the bloody costs of his actions grow ever greater.”

Watch the promo for this next Gotham episode below. Jim Gordon is determined to protect his city, Bruce is looking into what happened to Alfred, and Dr. Dulmacher wonders what he’s going to do with Fish.

Meanwhile, in other Gotham news, Ben McKenzie has spoken to E! News about whether Jerome (played by Shameless’ Cameron Monaghan) is the Joker, as many have been speculating. At first, Jerome seemed like he was grieving after his mother’s death, but once Jim Gordon realized that he actually killed her, a flip was switched, and the Jerome in that interrogation room scene was not at all like the Jerome Jim Gordon first met. After that and especially after that laugh, it didn’t seem like there was even a question anymore. But is Jerome the Joker?

“We had a possible Joker… He did a wonderful job. It’s one of those things we sort of leave out and see if we come back to it or not. He’s possibly going to be the Joker because it’s an origins story. We…have a couple of possible people who could be the Joker. …He’s just a kid at this point who has killed his own mother, so he’s clearly a little disturbed. And he’s grown up in the circus so he’s got a sense for the theatrical and he has the red hair and the requisite maniacal laugh. He kills it.”

In other words, keep speculating, because anything is possible.

Gotham Season 1 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
