Linkin Park Thank Fans For Their Support By Giving Away Free Download Of Latest Song, “Final Masquerade”


When your favorite artist or music group offers a free download to one of their tracks, find an electronic device immediately and download it as quickly as you can. Especially if it’s the all-boy music band Linkin Park, as the opportunity doesn’t come by often.

It was reported Friday by Anti Music that the band Linkin Park executed an unbelievable gesture for their loyal and supportive fans. Mike Shinoda announced on his blog that the group was giving away free downloads to the acoustic version of their song, “Final Masquerade.”

Mike Shinoda wrote, “We made something cool the other day, and we wanted you to have it. Here’s a special unreleased acoustic version of Final Masquerade.”

The free download was their way of saying thank you to their fans for understanding and supporting them, even after the cancellation of The Hunting Party tour.

Linkin Park’s album, The Hunting Party – where the original version of “Final Masquerade” is featured – was released June 14, 2014. With just a few shows completed during their tour, they had no choice but to cancel when one of their fellow group members, Chester Bennington, suffered a leg injury, according to Rolling Stone.

On Tuesday, Chester Bennington released a statement on their website stating,

“I’m really disappointed this injury has made it impossible to continue with this tour. The first couple of shows were just magical. We will truly miss not being with our fans for the next few weeks. Hope to see you again soon.”

The severity of Chester Bennington’s leg injury was never disclosed by any of the Linkin Park members. The did, however, release a statement stating that he would need “immediate medical attention.”

Mike Shinoda expressed his gratitude towards his in the statement as follows.

“Stripping it down to bare bones brought the sentiment of the song right to the surface. Thanks for all your support over the past couple months — we hope you enjoy the song.”

Linkin Park’s guitarist, Brad Desion, also gave his input on the free download acoustic version of “Final Masquerade.”

“In this stripped-down intimate version, the words and storytelling lead the way. I loved working on this special recording of ‘Final Masquerade,’ and we’re excited to share it with our fans.”

Linkin Park wishes to proceed with The Haunting Party tour before 2016, giving Chester Bennington time to heal from his leg injury.
