England and Sri Lanka have exact opposite records so far in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, but a loss could hurt either of them in Pool A play. The match will take place at Wellington Regional Stadium, and you’ll be able to catch all the action in a variety of ways streaming live online.
England has a record of 1-2 in pool play so far, and things didn’t start off well with a loss to Australia by 111 runs. Their second match was a loss to New Zealand by eight wickets, but they rebounded to thrash Scotland by 119 runs.
As for Sri Lanka, they are 2-1 in pool play, but it begun with a loss to New Zealand in the opening match by 98 runs. Since then, they have rebounded with two wins in a row. The first was over Afghanistan by four wickets and then over Bangladesh by 92 runs.
With Sri Lanka destroying Bangladesh, England has begun to get a little nervous at how things could go in their upcoming match. Against New Zealand, Steve Finn of England knows they did things horribly and need to improve, per the Mirror.
“We got beat by Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka so it’s important we go out there and try to stamp our authority in conditions that should favor us.
“It’s very important for us and these three games are almost each like a quarter-final, but we thrive on that sort of pressure and I think hopefully it will bring the best out of us.”
Another loss could be disastrous for England, and it’s not just going to spell trouble for the Cricket World Cup, but possible future tournaments as well. Some tournaments could start offering spots to just 12 countries instead of the normal 18 or 20 and England does not want to be left out.
The match between England vs. Sri Lanka is scheduled to begin at 11:00 local time (22:00 GMT) on Sunday, March 1, at the Wellington Regional Stadium.
