Bobbi Kristina Brown: Frightening Seizures Force Doctors To Leave Her In Coma

Bobbi Kristina Brown suffered a series of violent seizures when doctors attempted to wake her from a medically induced coma in which she has lain for nearly a month on Wednesday, forcing the medical team at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta to place her back into the coma, with no further word on when, or if, they may try to bring her out of her unconscious state again, CNN reported.

Bobbi Kristina, the 21-year-old daughter of the late pop icon Whitney Houston and R&B star Bobby Brown, was found unresponsive and face down in a bathtub on January 31. She was rushed to a hospital and quickly placed into a medically induced coma, in which she has remained ever since.

But on Wednesday, doctors tried cutting off the drugs that were keeping Bobbi Kristina in the coma, though they had planned to keep her connected to life support equipment. But shortly after the coma-inducing drugs ceased, the frightening seizures began.

“This is a horrible setback. Everyone was hopeful that this was the sign that she’d turned the corner,” a source reportedly close to Bobby Brown’s family told People Magazine Wednesday. “We were so optimistic. Bobby is taking this so hard. He was sure this was going to be a good day.”

The attempt to wake Bobbi Kristina from her coma came just two days after a feud between Bobby Brown and Bobbi Kristina’s live-in companion, Nick Gordon, spilled out into public view.

Gordon accused Brown of keeping him away from Bobbi Kristina, and of caring only about making his claim on the fortune his daughter inherited from her mother, Whitney Houston.

In turn, Brown through his lawyers charged that Gordon refused to reveal details of what happened on the day that Bobbi Kristina was found in the bathtub. Until Gordon puts those details in writing, the lawyer said, he will remain barred from Bobbi Kristina’s hospital room.

Experts said that doctors probably believed that the “underlying problem has improved,” and that’s what led them to make the attempt to wake Bobbi Kristina Brown. So the violent seizures that she subsequently suffered came as a severe disappointment.

While the causes of the Bobbi Kristina Brown medical crisis and her seizures remain a mystery, also on Wednesday, Nick Gordon filed a restraining order against police investigators, designed to prevent them from executing a search warrant on the home he shared with Bobbi Kristina. Police want access to security camera footage from the home.
