Memphis Man, 28, Charged With Assaulting 92-Year-Old Girlfriend

A 28-year-old Memphis man has been charged with beating and choking his 92-year-old girlfriend. The victim, Willie Frances Robinson, said that Thomas Standley grew furious with her because she refused to take her medicine.

Robinson said that Standley grabbed her by the arm and shook her violently, WREG Memphis reports. According to police documents, Robinson said that Standley abuses her on a regular basis, and has talked her into signing over her power of attorney. She never called Memphis police about her boyfriend’s abuse because she was scared of him.

Robinson’s daughter, who lives next door to the couple, said that she heard the abuse and screams. The daughter, Patricia Haynes, heard her mother scream, “Let go of me, you’re hurting me.” She also told WREG that Standley not only lived with Robinson as her boyfriend, but also as her unlicensed caretaker.

Haynes said that when she responded to her mother’s cries, Standley pushed her out the door. Robinson screamed for Standley to stop hurting her, the daughter said to police. When Memphis police arrived, Robinson told them that Standley choked and beat her. Though her arms were hurting, Robinson refused to have medical treatment, according to a court affidavit detailing the incident.

Standley was charged with domestic assault and assault around 12 a.m. Wednesday morning. Memphis police reportedly drove to the couple’s home around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, according to WMC Action News. Standley is currently being held in Shelby County Jail and is scheduled to go to court on Thursday morning. Online court documents do not detail if Standley has hired a lawyer to comment on the charges.

Thomas Standely isn’t the only Memphis man who is in trouble lately. The Inquisitr previously reported that another man was accused of putting his puppy into a running dishwasher. Marcus Curry, 27, pleaded guilty to aggravated animal cruelty. Curry has been sentenced to 16 months in prison, according to the report.

Curry also took some interesting mug shots for Memphis Police. The Inquisitr report also displayed three mug shots of him rolling his eyes to the camera. He appears to no show sympathy for killing his puppy in the dishwasher.

Marcus Curry was also charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty by the grand jury at the Shelby County District Attorney. Memphis Police also reported that Marcus also has fraud charges for allegedly using his great aunt’s credit card without her knowledge or consent. The purchases reportedly ring up to $600.
