Is A Real-Life Batman Suit Possible? One Fan Answers The Geeky Call

Batman, quite possibly the most popular comic book character, is admired in part because of all the cool gadgets he has. Not to mention the car and, of course, the Batman suit. Unlike Back to the Future fans, who have definitive hopes and dreams that their film will potentially reap realistic rewards in seeing devices like the hoverboard and the spiffy futuristic Nike’s come to fruition in the real world, most Batman fans do not hold such realistic expectations.

At least, this is, until now. According to Comicbook.com, one geeky guy has actually managed to create a real-life bat suit. As Batman fans look on with skepticism and geeky excitement, many wonder if it actually works. According to the aptly named Gordon, it does, in fact. Apparently, it can hold up against physical blows, baseball bats, and even machete.

So, was it the sheer love of Gotham’s Caped Crusader that led him to build the bat suit? Well, not exactly. Apparently, according to USA Today, Gordon was very bored.

“When I came to this college, I was sort of sitting in my room all day. I’d get my homework done in like, an hour, and then I’d have nothing to do for the rest of the day. So, I figured, I’ll do what I always do — I’ll start a project.”

Since Jackson Gordon did not retain a police commissioner’s salary, let alone a billionaire philanthropist’s, his Cup O’ Noodles budget needed a little help. So, naturally, he sought out the only source of cash that was not a bank loan: Kickstarter. Despite seeking to go for functionality over style, or perhaps in spite of it, Kickstarters raised $1,200 in just one month. Then, the industrial design student was off to Gotham.

According to Gordon, unlike Christian Bale’s bat suit in Batman Begins, he could move his head in the suit. In fact, despite weighing 25 pounds, the entire suit is quite mobile. He says you barely feel it on.

“It sounds like a lot, and when you have it in a bag over your shoulder it weighs a ton, but when you are actually wearing it, you barely feel it.”

Though this industrial design student can now properly attend comic cons and try to win Cosplay contests, he is more than the sum of his Batsuit parts. Gordon has a black belt in kung fu.

So, what are your thoughts about Gordon’s self-made bat suit? Lame, awesome, barely looks like Batman, or “I have to buy it from him right now”? Leave your geeky thoughts below.
