Teen Girl Performed Obscene Act With Toddler, Police Say — How They Caught Her Is Unbelievable

A teenage girl was arrested last week in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, charged with commiting a sex act involving a toddler — a sickening crime that the 14-year-old told cops she did not remember because she was too drunk at the time. But as if her alleged offense was not appalling enough, the way she got caught was as unbelievable as her perverse act with the toddler.

The teen girl, Orangeburg authorities say, made a video of herself performing the obscene act with the toddler — then she posted the video to Facebook.

“Multiple law enforcement agencies in the county were swamped with calls Thursday when a video was shared on Facebook,” said Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell in a statement Friday.

“Our officers responded to a concerned citizen who provided information about the juvenile and the incident location. Our investigation indicates the teen recorded the video and sent it to a male friend.”

Because both she and her alleged victim are obviously minors, neither the name of the 14-year-old girl nor the toddler have been released. It was also not made clear if the girl is related to the toddler in the video.

Though the teen told sheriff’s deputies that she did not remember recording the video or posting it to Facebook, she admitted that the teenage girl in the Facebook video was, in fact, her. She said that the video was shot when she came home highly intoxicated after a teenage drinking party, according to a report on WLTX-TV in South Carolina.

The incredible set of circumstances apparently led authorities to become alarmed about the state of the home in which the girl is said to have recorded the disturbing video. In addition to arresting the girl and charging her with “criminal sexual misconduct with a minor,” the South Carolina Department of Social Services removed two other children from the home.

But authorities did not indicate whether one of the children removed was the toddler seen in the offending video.

“This is a devastating case where an innocent child is being abused and taken advantage of by someone whom the child should have been able to trust,” Ravenell said, adding that he called upon parents to closely monitor their children’s cell phone and social media use.

There was no report of the sheriff also calling on parents to monitor their children’s alcohol use as well.

No further information was yet available on the 14-year-old girl who allegedly posted the video of herself in a sex act with a toddler to Facebook, such as whether there was any history of sexual abuse in her household.
